John Harbaugh Contract and Salary

Harbaugh quickly became one of the most sought-after head coaches during the 2026 NFL offseason after he parted ways with the Ravens. Just about every team with a vacancy was interested in hiring him, but the Giants will be his new team for next season.

After days of negotiations, Harbaugh finally agreed to sign the contract to become the new Giants’ head coach. “The Giants and new coach John Harbaugh have now agreed upon and finalized the five-year deal for Harbaugh to be the new coach, per The Insiders,” wrote NFL insider Ian Rapoport on X. “Done and done. First opening filled.”

Giants fans had to wait a couple of days for the deal to be made official, as the head coach wanted major changes in the organization before accepting the position.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz previously reported that Harbaugh’s new contract with New York is expected to be for around $100 million and will span the next five seasons.

His projected AAV of $20 million would tie him with Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs as the highest-paid head coach in the NFL.

Harbaugh’s Current Net Worth

Harbaugh currently has a net worth of $50 million before officially signing his contract with the Giants, according to Celebrity Net Worth. This includes his previous contract with the Ravens, which was worth $17 million per year, but his new deal will exceed that amount. This would obviously increase his net worth and is scheduled to take effect beginning in the 2026 NFL season.

New York could also offer additional opportunities for Harbaugh to increase his net worth and salary, including potential endorsement deals and media appearances. He is joining one of the most iconic franchises in the NFL, in one of the most opportunistic cities, which may have played a role in his decision to accept the Giants’ job.

A Look Into Harbaugh’s Coaching Career

Harbaugh began his coaching career in the 1984 college football season with the Western Michigan Broncos. He spent 14 years at the collegiate level, including eight with the Cincinnati Bearcats, and mainly as a special teams coordinator. The Philadelphia Eagles hired him in this same role to make the jump to the NFL for the 1998 season.

He remained there until 2008, when the Ravens hired him as their head coach, a position he would hold for 18 seasons. He won a Super Bowl ring for the 2012 season, but has posted just a 4-7 overall playoff record since then.

He has been unable to get to one with two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, but maybe he will have more success with promising rookie Jaxson Dart for the Giants. His first season included six weekly finishes among the top-ten quarterbacks in PFSN’s Impact Rankings across his 12 starts, so the upside is clearly present.
