‘I Kind of Expected It’ — Jeremiyah Love Reveals the Moment He Knew the Cardinals Were Drafting Him

In this year's NFL draft, the Arizona Cardinals selected Jeremiyah Love, so what does the star RB think of his new team and destination?

How Does Jeremiyah Love Feel About the Cardinals?

Love getting selected by the Cardinals with the third overall pick seemed pretty predictable, according to Love in an interview he did with Ratings.org.

“I kind of expected it towards the end, maybe a week before the draft,” he said. “I got on a call with Monty, and Monty’s our GM, and we sat down and talked for a little minute, and it was a great conversation. (Prior to that) the Cardinals didn’t hit me up during the whole draft experience, so we kinda knew what was going on.”

However, Love could have been wearing blue instead of red. “Before then, I thought I was probably going to the Titans or the Giants, which would have been a blessing as well,” the star running back added.

If Love went to the Giants, he and Cam Skattebo could have created an excellent backfield. Love would have been the lightning, with Skattebo being the thunder. If he went to the Titans, he could have been the next great Titans back in a line of franchise backs that have names like Earl Campbell, Chris Johnson, and Derrick Henry.

One area Love is excited about with the Cardinals is the coaching staff. “I’m glad, and I’m honored to be a Cardinal. It’s just a blessed opportunity. I get an opportunity to play football at the highest level, do it with a great team. I’ve been able to connect with some of the players.”

One such player is tight end Trey McBride, who posted an 87.8 impact score and ranked second in the league according to PFSN’s Tight End Impact Metric. Not only is McBride an excellent receiving threat due to his great combination and speed, but also good in run blocking. So he could be a key factor if Love has a great rookie season.

“Coach LaFleur is a very good coach,” Love continued. “Just getting to know more about him, man.” “He has a great offensive mind off the field. He’s a great guy. I’m just blessed to be here, blessed to be a Cardinal. I’m looking forward to doing great things with this organization.”

LaFleur comes from the Los Angeles Rams, where he served as offensive coordinator. Last year, the Rams’ offense ranked first and received an A- grade from PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric.

Overall, Love’s positive attitude could help the Cardinals get on the right track.
