Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has been a go-to target for Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud during his time with the team. Collins had been dealing with a hamstring injury from last season, but was in the team’s starting lineup against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Yet Collins was not an integral part of the Texans’ offense in the first half. It’s interesting to see that the star wideout has not been targeted much so far. Is he hurt?
What Happened to Nico Collins?
With the Texans leading 9-7 at halftime, Collins only had three targets in his time on the field. He only had two receptions for 21 yards by the third quarter.
Whether Stroud could not find him or Collins was just not open will be up for review after the game.
My Texans halftime thoughts:
– C.J. Stroud looks much more comfortable than near the end of 2024
– Get Nico Collins more involved (only 3 targets)
– Defense has looked to partGood first half for Houston. pic.twitter.com/bFcU47SbvS

Collins’ play has been part of the Texans’ offensive plans and new offensive coordinator Nick Caley wants him a part of it.
So, what were fantasy players looking at as far as Collins is concerned before drafting their teams? PFSN’s Kyle Soppe offered some analysis about Collins as a possible pick-up.
“Suppose this is your first time reading Kyle Soppe’s content on PFSN, welcome,” Soppe wrote. “If not, you’re familiar with my Nico Collins propaganda and might be sick of it.
What Were Fantasy Players Looking At With Collins?
“Do you see the problem here? That’s a thin needle to thread,” Soppe wrote. “I need to convince the uninformed why I think we are looking at a 2024 Ja’Marr Chase in Houston clothing, without repeating the arguments that consistent readers have already heard.
“How does that work?” Soppe wrote. “Collins’ 695-route sample that we have with C.J. Stroud under center is better than you realize and is as good a start to a relationship as any in this league.
The C.J. Stroud ➡️ Nico Collins connection is back 🤘

“The Rams were the first defense to allow a receiver to reach 35 PPR points in a game last season (shoutout to Jauan Jennings in Week 3), and I’m not ruling out Collins making them a repeat name on that list. Buckle up, the Collins SZN is loading.”
As the game rolls along, Stroud will need to find open spots in the Rams’ secondary to connect with Collins in order for the Texans to get a road victory.
