Since being drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, running back Kyren Williams has been a solid contributor to the offense, rattling off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2023 and 2024.
After a nice start to the 2025 NFL season, Williams has slowed down in recent weeks. With another slow start against the Carolina Panthers in Week 13, here’s a look at his outing so far.
What Happened to Los Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams?
Williams has played in all eleven games for the Rams this season. However, through two quarters, Williams hasn’t quite found his footing in Week 13, rushing seven times for 39 yards. In fact, for most of the first half, second-year running back Blake Corum had out-rushed Williams with five carries for 41 yards.
While he received some carries late in the second quarter, he would get up limping and head to the sideline. He wound up heading to the locker room early after trainers were looking at his right leg on the sideline. Corum wound up bulldozing his way into the end zone for a two-yard touchdown.

The Rams will hold their breath as Williams is examined in the locker room. The running back was officially listed as questionable to return, but according to Adam Grosbard, Williams was warming up before the second half and will likely return to play.
He’s having another solid year, turning 170 carries into 796 yards and six touchdowns. He’s also caught 24 of 32 targets for 184 yards and three touchdowns. Williams ranks as a top-ten running back according to PFSN’s NFL RB Impact rankings, coming in at eighth with an impact score of 83.
Between Williams’ solid season, quarterback Matthew Stafford looking like one of the best players in the NFL, and wide receiver Puka Nacua dominating as well, it’s no wonder the Rams have the second-highest ranked offense in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric with a score of 89.2. They’ve scored the ball with ease this season, averaging 27.8 points per game with a solid defense to back them up.
While Corum can be a short-term replacement, missing Williams’ dynamic ability out of the backfield and in the passing game will significantly alter the offense.
Tied for the best record in the NFL, the Rams face a significant challenge against the Panthers in Week 13, but that challenge will become even tougher if they are without Williams for the remainder of the contest, depending on the severity of his injury.
Fantasy Spin
Williams entered this week with five top-12 finishes at the position (PPR) on the back of his nine touchdowns. His efficency has ticked up this year (4.7 yards per carry) from last (4.1) and the touchdown savvy is something he’s proven consistently (14+ TDs from scrimmage in each of the two years prior).
If this injury is prohibitive in any way, the Rams spent a third round pick on Corum in 2024 for that exact instance. The second-year back has shown some explosive potential when given the opportunity this season and while any injury to this backfield would shift more usage to the passing game, there’s no real questioning who would lead the backfield in value.
Los Angeles has a tough schedule to close the fantasy seaosn (Arizona next week before facing Detroit, Seattle, and Atlanta), but volume is worth its weight in gold this time of year.
Corum wouldn’t replace Williams one-for-one in the weekly rankings, but he’d be a weekly starter in all formats if he were to find himself at the top of this depth chart.
