Is Josh Jacobs Injured? A Look at Packers RB’s Status After Slow Start vs. Ravens

While Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been banged up a bit this season, he's off to a slow start against the Ravens in Week 17.

Josh Jacobs has continued to have a dominant career after signing with the Green Bay Packers in the 2024 offseason. He was on pace to break the 1,000-yard mark for the fifth time in his career, but a slow start to Week 17 could complicate that.

What Happened to Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs?

No, Jacobs is not injured despite being limited with a knee injury at practice during the week. However, he’s been silenced in the first half, seemingly due to a lack of snaps. Granted, they’ve only run six plays with a little over seven minutes left in the second quarter.

He’s gotten two carries for one yard as the Packers have struggled to get going after the opening drive. On Jacobs’ second carry of the game, he got stonewalled by Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen and the defense on fourth and inches.

Jacobs has had a solid season for the Packers, turning 230 carries into 926 yards and 13 touchdowns. He’s also caught 35 of 43 targets for 282 yards and another trip to the end zone. He’s three touchdowns away from setting a new career high after scoring 16 last season.

While he has had a good season, he’s dropped slightly in PFSN’s RB Impact metric due to a lower yardage output. He was the 12th-ranked back in 2024 with an impact score of 80.6, but his score has since dropped to 78.7 in 2025, along with his ranking, which has fallen to 17th.

He’s an integral part of the Packers’ offense, but with quarterback Jordan Love out in Week 17 due to a concussion, backup Malik Willis’ mobility adds a new wrinkle to Green Bay’s offense. He’s out-carried Jacobs in the first half three to two, and just pulled off a masterful option play, running 22 yards to the end zone to bring the Packers closer with a score of 20-14.

The Packers have had the sixth-ranked offense in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric with a score of 82.8. Despite being down, Love, head coach Matt LaFleur has Willis primed and ready to step in at any moment and take over. He’s completed all eight of his passes for 133 yards and a touchdown.

If Green Bay can get on the field a bit more, they will find a way to get Jacobs more involved; however, that will involve the defense stepping up and forcing Baltimore off the field. The Ravens have rushed for 175 yards in the first half, with Henry at 106 and three touchdowns. The Packers will need to make some halftime adjustments to secure a win in this game.
