The Indianapolis Colts jumped out to a 14-6 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in a big game on Sunday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Colts quarterback Daniel Jones has been looking to connect with his wide receivers throughout the game, but one of them hasn’t been too active.
What’s Happened to Colts WR Alec Pierce?
While Michael Pittman Jr. and Tyler Warren have been the top receivers for Indianapolis on Sunday, wide receiver Alec Pierce has not gotten involved in the action.
Jones, in the second quarter, was 10-of-11 passing for 94 yards and two touchdowns. The Indianapolis defense has also done a good job of containing Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense.

But where’s Pierce? He has not recorded a catch at all or even a target from Jones. At this point, either Pierce is injured or just not seeing action due to a coach’s decision. Pierce has been a solid outlet for Jones this season, so his absence is a bit concerning.
According to the PFSN NFL WR Impact metrics, Pierce has an impact score of 83.8 and grades out to a B. On the season so far, Pierce has 28 catches for 585 yards and one touchdown reception. He’s been targeted 52 times while being on the field with the Colts’ offense.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen obviously wants to see a solid game from Pierce on Sunday against a formidable, tough opponent in Kansas City. His lack of involvement on the field heading into halftime is quite concerning for Colts fans.
There has been no official word on whether or not Pierce is injured. If he is, though, then that will remove a pass-catching option from Jones when he’s on the field running the Indianapolis offense. According to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, the Colts have an offense impact Score of 94.1, grading out to an A, which is the best in the league..
Indianapolis is converting on third and fourth downs at a 48.1% clip this season, meaning that the Colts are taking care of business when necessary. Still, Pierce’s involvement on Sunday is something to watch as the game rolls along in Kansas City. Jones wants to have the team’s leading receiver out on the field at all times, too.
