Jaire Alexander’s sloppy split with the Green Bay Packers has left the veteran cornerback looking for a new team as the NFL is about to hit its summer break.
It’s hard to predict where he’ll land this late in the NFL offseason calendar, but one insider recently proposed that Alexander could end up on a bona fide Super Bowl contender.
NFL Insider Says Philadelphia Eagles Could Be Landing Spot For Jaire Alexander
Alexander was a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and spent his seven-year career with the Packers. After his 2020 campaign ended with second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl recognitions, the team picked up his fifth-year option. That season, he posted 51 tackles, 13 pass breakups, and an interception.
Alexander signed a four-year, $84 million extension in the 2022 offseason, but injuries and a team-issued suspension limited him to just 14 games over the last two years. The Packers suspended him for one game in 2023 after he participated in the coin toss against the Carolina Panthers despite not being designated a captain that week.
Over those two seasons, he posted 43 tackles, 12 PBUs, and two interceptions and is now searching for a new NFL home.
Many pundits have noted that Alexander will value connections with his next team. This led fans to believe the Baltimore Ravens would be a frontrunner due to Alexander’s Louisville teammate, Lamar Jackson. However, another team with a connection is the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently appeared on the local Philadelphia radio show “Kincade & Salciunas” and discussed Alexander’s short-term future. The station’s X account tweeted Fowler’s comments: “Talking to people that have been around him or close to him, they believe loyalty is important to him, connection is important to him.”

Parker was a defensive quality control coach in Green Bay from 2019 to 2020 before moving on to the Denver Broncos and eventually the Eagles. Those two seasons were arguably Alexander’s best stretch as a professional, so Philadelphia will likely lean into the Parker connection in its pursuit of the cornerback.
The Eagles’ defense is coming off an exceptional season. It finished second in PFSN’s Defense+ metric and shut down Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl 59. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean led a deadly secondary that would gladly welcome another quality player like Alexander.
Philadelphia is known for making aggressive roster moves during Nick Sirianni’s tenure, and adding a two-time Pro Bowler would fit that reputation.
