‘Don’t Need To Act Like That’ — Giants Reporter Puts Jaxson Dart on Notice After QB’s Viral Donald Trump Endorsement

Why should Giants QB Jaxson Dart be careful with how he broadcasts his political views? Find out more about the risks he's running.

Navigating public life as a sports star in the Big Apple is tricky, as New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart learned with his endorsement of President Donald Trump. NFL stars often find it easier to keep their political opinions private; however, Dart, being the charismatic star that he is, is very outspoken about his convictions.

Jaxson Dart Warned Against Associating Himself With Donald Trump

Pundits didn’t necessarily expect Dart to become a big-time starter in the NFL, let alone in his rookie season. The Ole Miss product, nonetheless, took the reins from veteran Russell Wilson early in the 2025 campaign and never looked back. He posted a 76.3 PFSN QB Impact score in his rookie season, ranking 18th in the league.

Wins over the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles made him a household name in East Rutherford, and he’s now seen as the future of the franchise.

With such acclaim, however, comes a lot of scrutiny, and the young quarterback learned that the hard way after endorsing President Trump recently. Trump is one of the most polarizing presidents in American history, making Dart’s endorsement particularly bold.

As many of the Big Apple’s most prominent stars have kept their personal convictions out of the limelight, The Athletic’s Dan Duggan believes Dart will find life in the city a lot easier by avoiding politics.

“Dart has a social life, and that plays out on social media,” Duggan wrote. “His vibe is much more Joe Namath than Eli Manning. But Broadway Joe didn’t exist in the TikTok era. Manning was deliberately boring during his 16 seasons as the Giants’ starting quarterback. He probably wouldn’t have given a direct answer if asked who the president was during his career, let alone make the type of public endorsement Dart did Friday.”

Dart introduced the president at a rally for Rep. Mike Lawler on Friday, demonstrating a strong relationship with Trump.

“Most modern New York superstars adopt the vanilla public relations strategy perfected by Derek Jeter,” Duggan added. “Do we know anything about the political leanings of Aaron Judge or Jalen Brunson? Top New York athletes don’t need to act like that, and if Dart’s play matches his charismatic personality, his star power will be off the charts. But the low-profile path is easier to navigate, a lesson Dart likely learned this weekend.”

Dart proudly introduced Trump, saying, “What an honor. What a privilege it is to be here. Without further ado, I’m grateful, I’m honored, and I’m pleased to introduce the 45th and 47th President of the United States of America, President Donald J Trump.”

In return, Trump also praised Dart. “I wanna thank Jaxson Dart, this is gonna be a future Hall of Famer in my book,” Trump said. “I’m looking at Jaxson… I’m looking at the legs there. He’s this beautiful guy. He’s got legs like tree trunks.”

How the quarterback handles backlash for his political convictions remains to be seen.
