Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart recently introduced President Donald Trump during a New York political rally for United States representative Mike Lawler. The moment quickly went viral and drew mixed reactions, including one from Abdul Carter, Dart’s teammate and a fellow 2025 first-round pick.
Giants Legend Tiki Barber Says Abdul Carter’s Reaction to Jaxson Dart Is Not a Major Problem
Carter initially wrote, “Thought this S**t was AI, what are we doing man,” to express his displeasure with Dart’s actions. Carter has since deleted the post and sent a follow-up saying that he and Dart talked it out. The initial fear was that this could cause a rift in the Giants’ locker room, but not everyone believes that this will be a major problem for New York.
To former Giants running back Tiki Barber, this is nothing out of the ordinary. A locker room is composed of many personalities and opinions, and naturally, not everyone will always agree. Barber says that the reactions to Carter’s post are a symptom of the current social media age.
“This is just a symptom of where our country is, and it’s sports talk radio on steroids, the political world that we live in,” Barber explained. “There’s no discourse; there isn’t a lot of ‘I see your side of the story.’ It’s my way or no way, my side or your side. It’s bipolar, it’s frustrating to be honest with you, because that’s not how it used to be.
“I remember when I was playing, I met both sides of the political aisle. I met President Bush, my ex-wife used to dress Bill Clinton. It just felt like it wasn’t a big of a deal as it is now. It’s unfortunate, because that’s not what politics used to be.”

Barber’s take was voiced during his show “Evan and Tiki.” He was then asked if this would become a problem in the locker room.
“Not at all. It’s the social media world. Trust me, people have said worse about Jaxson Dart on social media. I know people wanna make this a big deal and say that Carter or Dart was wrong. You’re just a kid living your life. Get over it.”
Some analysts, such as Michael Ruiz, believe that Dart’s actions could become a distraction for the Giants. The Giants are hoping that both players can make a major leap in 2026, with the Giants entering a new era under John Harbaugh’s leadership.
Ultimately, Dart’s political opinions won’t be as important as his play on the field, and the same goes for Carter. While the Giants would like to avoid distractions, what truly matters for the duo is how they produce come September.
