Gabe Davis is on the free agent market after recently being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The veteran receiver is now looking for a new NFL home after a very short stint in Jacksonville. Let’s look at three teams that could sign the five-year pro.

3 Potential Landing Spots for Gabe Davis
Davis signed a three-year, $39 million deal with the Jaguars last offseason after four productive years with the Buffalo Bills. It seemed like an expensive deal for a receiver who hadn’t yet surpassed 1,000 yards in a season, but Jacksonville was confident that “Big Game Gabe” could spark its offense.
Davis is best known for his postseason run in 2021. He was Josh Allen’s second option that season behind Stefon Diggs, and showed up with a monster game against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round. He posted eight receptions, 201 yards, and four touchdowns that night, but the Bills lost in overtime.
After two more productive (albeit not explosive) seasons, the Bills let Davis test free agency. He landed in Jacksonville but has been jettisoned after a disappointing season where he posted just 20 catches, 239 yards, and two touchdowns.
The move isn’t shocking given a pre-draft report that the new regime didn’t like the veteran receiver. Davis played in 10 games last year, missing the final six with a torn meniscus.
It’s harder for teams to have open roster spots after the draft, but here are three teams that could be interested in the receiver.
Pittsburgh Steelers
There has been plenty of receiver movement from the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, so why not add another? Before the new league year began, the team traded for DK Metcalf and gave him a five-year, $150 million extension.
Pittsburgh then shockingly traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys for draft compensation. What was a crowded receiver room now has an opening. The Steelers signed Robert Woods this offseason, but Davis would fit well as an outside No. 2 option.
Buffalo Bills
What about a reunion?
Buffalo’s receiver room looks very different from when Davis was last there. Diggs is gone, and Khalil Shakir is the No. 1 option. Buffalo signed Joshua Palmer, Laviska Shenault Jr., and Elijah Moore this offseason. They also drafted Kaden Prather in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
It’s unlikely the team would want to stunt the development of 2024 second-round pick Keon Coleman, so Davis might be out of luck with his former team. However, catching balls from Allen again would be good for Davis’ career.
New England Patriots
After signing two former Bills in Diggs and Mack Hollins, why not add a third?
The New England Patriots have done a great job of giving Drake Maye offensive help this offseason. They’ve re-worked the offensive line and drafted a WR in the third round on top of signing the two veterans.
Davis would have to earn his reps in the crowded New England receiver room, but his best years were when he was paired with Diggs. Any offensive weapon is a good thing for Maye and the Patriots, and Davis should be a cheap addition after his poor 2024 season
