FOX Sports is shaking up its NFL broadcast booth, making two major announcements on Friday involving former quarterbacks. The network officially welcomed Super Bowl champion Drew Brees as its newest game analyst. This move came as it also confirmed the departure of Mark Sanchez following a recent violent altercation.
How Will Drew Brees’ Arrival Change the FOX NFL Booth?
FOX confirmed in a statement that Brees, the legendary former New Orleans Saints quarterback, will join play-by-play announcer Adam Amin and sideline reporter Kristina Pink. The Super Bowl XLIV champion is set to make his debut as an analyst starting in Week 11 of the 2025 season.

“Drew is one of the best to ever play the game, and we couldn’t be more excited to have his prolific credentials and unique insights as part of our coverage on Sundays,” said FOX Sports President of Production and Operations, Brad Zager.
Brees, who retired from the NFL in 2021, ranks second all-time in both passing yards and touchdowns. During his career, he led the Saints to their first Super Bowl XLIV title, winning the game’s MVP award in 2010. Brees finished his career as one of the most accurate passers in league history with a 67.7% completion percentage. His performance consistently earned him a high rating on PFSN’s Quarterback Impact (QBi), where he averaged an 87.9 score in his prime.

“I appreciate the opportunity FOX has given me in the booth and with their team,” Brees said in the announcement. “I hope my passion for this game is reflected in the knowledge and insights I provide to the fans each Sunday.”
Why Was Mark Sanchez Let Go by the Network?
The news about Brees comes as FOX confirmed its decision to part ways with Mark Sanchez, who had not appeared on air since early October. The former New York Jets quarterback was involved in a violent incident in Indianapolis while there to call a Colts vs. Raiders game. According to police, Sanchez was part of an altercation with a 69-year-old delivery driver.

Authorities allege that Sanchez attacked the man, who then reportedly stabbed the broadcaster in self-defense. Sanchez was critically injured and subsequently arrested in his hospital bed. He is now facing one felony battery charge and three misdemeanors. Additionally, the alleged victim, Perry Tole, has filed a lawsuit that names both Sanchez and FOX as defendants.
A month after the incident, the network officially addressed Sanchez’s status. In a statement to TMZ Sports, a FOX spokesperson said, “We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network. There will be no further comment at this time.”
Sanchez joined FOX’s NFL coverage in 2021 and became a fan favorite for his enthusiastic on-air style. Most recently, he was part of the network’s No. 3 broadcast team alongside Kevin Kugler. With Brees stepping into a prominent role and Sanchez’s tenure ending abruptly, the network’s broadcast lineup has undergone a significant change for the second half of the 2025 NFL season.
