Should You Start Arizona Cardinals RBs Emari Demercado or Bam Knight in Fantasy Football Week 11?

Arizona’s backfield remains one of fantasy football’s most unpredictable committees as Emari Demercado and Bam Knight continue splitting work. Both runners enter Week 11 following another confusing usage pattern that defied box score narratives. Can fantasy football managers trust either Cardinals runner this week?

    Emari Demercado Fantasy Outlook

The box score might suggest Demercado served as the lead back last week against Seattle. However, the underlying data tells a different story. Demercado had only four carries and four targets despite Knight leaving early with an ankle injury.

Demercado reached 13.4 fantasy points because of one long run rather than sustained involvement. His snap share remained at just 42% despite Knight’s early departure, suggesting the coaching staff didn’t view him as the clear replacement when the starter went down.

Since Week 5 after Trey Benson went down, Demercado’s efficiency metrics have been impressive. His 10.2 yards per attempt, 8.77 yards after contact per carry, and 18.2% explosive rush rate all rank among the league’s best. He just hasn’t touched the ball much.

The challenge for fantasy managers is projecting when and how often Demercado will receive opportunities. Arizona continues rotating backs without clear patterns, making it nearly impossible to forecast weekly workloads. Demercado functions as a boom-or-bust option whose value depends entirely on explosive plays materializing.

    Bam Knight Fantasy Outlook

Knight posted a season-low 4.3 fantasy points last week against the Seahawks. The ankle injury certainly contributed to his struggles, but Knight hasn’t been very effective regardless of health. He’s averaging just 3.3 yards per carry on the season, ranking among the league’s worst qualified runners.

Knight remains firmly ahead of Michael Carter on the depth chart despite the poor efficiency. He’s expected to play today after being listed as questionable with the ankle issue. Knight handled 14 opportunities last week before departing, demonstrating his role when healthy.

Game script probably won’t get away from the Cardinals this week. That means Knight should start and be a safe bet for 10 opportunities against San Francisco. While the talent profile doesn’t inspire confidence, the volume provides a floor for desperate fantasy managers. Knight also functions as the goal-line back, giving him a better shot at scoring than Demercado.

Although Knight was the Cardinals’ lead back in Week 10, he was outplayed by Demercado, who led the team in carries the week prior. This back-and-forth dynamic creates weekly uncertainty about which back will earn the coaching staff’s trust.

Should You Start Knight or Demercado This Week?

San Francisco’s defense has not been good this year against the run. The 49ers allow the ninth-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points per game to running backs, creating above-average conditions for Arizona’s ground attack.

This game should remain competitive despite Arizona’s injuries at quarterback and receiver. The Cardinals enter as road underdogs but demonstrated in their first meeting that they can keep games close against San Francisco. Demercado and Knight should both see opportunities in a relatively balanced game script.

Neither back is a recommended start given their talent profiles and unpredictable usage patterns. However, both qualify as viable RB3 options if you need them due to roster constraints.

Fantasy managers should temper expectations for both backs despite the favorable matchup. Knight offers the safer floor through his projected volume and goal-line role, while Demercado provides boom potential if he breaks off another explosive run. Neither inspires confidence, but the matchup at least provides realistic pathways to fantasy relevance.
