Nothing can derail a fantasy football team’s performance quite like bad weather. Rain, heat, cold, and wind can majorly impact players’ performance on the field. Here’s a weather report for every NFL game on Sunday and Monday so managers can make the best lineup decisions.
What Is the Fantasy Impact of the Week 9 NFL Weather?
Weather information was taken from Weather.com at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 16. In-depth stats are courtesy of Pro Football Reference.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Buffalo Bills
- Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
- Expected Temperature: Low 40s to high 30s
- Showers: 15%
- Wind: 20 mph West-northwesterly
In a battle between two of the NFL’s most beloved quarterbacks, high winds could dictate that this game is decided on the ground. The Buffalo Bills have allowed 5.5 yards per rush attempt this season, tied with the New York Giants for the most in the league.
They’ll be thankful that Bucky Irving has been ruled out, but Sean Tucker and Rachaad White are both must-starts. If you roster either kicker in this game, it’s likely best to stream someone else this weekend.
Los Angeles Chargers at Jacksonville Jaguars
- Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
- Expected Temperature: High 70s
- Showers: 0%
- Wind: 14 mph Westerly
The winds will be slightly less impactful in Jacksonville, and all of the usual players should be playable in fantasy this week. Parker Washington is a must start at the moment, and if Brian Thomas Jr. (questionable) is sidelined again, Jakobi Meyers should also provide flex value.
Green Bay Packers at New York Giants
- Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
- Expected Temperature: Low 50s
- Showers: 0%
- Wind: 19 mph West-northwesterly
The fantasy community is rightly excited about the prospect of Jameis Winston starting for the New York Giants this weekend. But with winds expected to flirt with 20 mph, there’s a chance we might see more Mr. Hyde than Dr. Jekyll on Sunday.
That shouldn’t stop you from starting Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton, who should both be incredibly busy. The Packers are running low on healthy receivers, which should mean more targets for those who remain.
Again, there are likely better kicking options elsewhere.
Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans
- Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
- Expected Temperature: Mid 60s
- Showers: 0%
- Wind: 9 mph North-northwesterly
The second-best defense in PFSN’s Defense Impact metric meets the league’s second-worst offense according to Offense Impact this Sunday. On a dry and relatively calm afternoon in Nashville, the weather shouldn’t impact your fantasy decisions.
Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers
- Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
- Expected Temperature: Mid 40s
- Showers: 2%
- Wind: 17 mph West-northwesterly
The Cincinnati Bengals (30th) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (32nd) are both bottom-three defenses in passing yards allowed per game. The two teams combined for 64 points in Week 7, with the Bengals emerging 33-31 winners.
There is similar shootout potential in this one, with both quarterbacks a worthwhile start, especially Joe Flacco. Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Chase Brown, Jaylen Warren, and D.K. Metcalf are all must-starts, while at least one Steelers tight end will likely finish in the top 10 at the position.
Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
- Kickoff: Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET
- Expected Temperature: Mid 40s
- Showers: 1%
- Wind: 23 mph West-northwesterly
The worst of the weekend’s winds is likely to be felt in Cleveland in the second AFC North matchup of Sunday’s slate. The worsening weather could aid those waiting on a Derrick Henry resurgence down the stretch, with the Baltimore Ravens’ improving defense also likely to help.
The Cleveland Browns have struggled through the air all year, and things aren’t likely to get better this Sunday.
Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos
- Kickoff: Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET
- Expected Temperature: Low 70s to high 60s
- Showers: 0%
- Wind: 5 mph Northeasterly
Things should be a lot calmer when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Denver Broncos in a crucial AFC West matchup with enormous playoff implications. A win would take Denver four wins clear of the Chiefs, with the Chargers also in contention for the division crown.
Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles
- Kickoff: Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET
- Expected Temperature: Mid 40s
- Showers: 0%
- Wind: 16 mph West-northwesterly
There have been some atrocious primetime games so far this season, but Sunday Night Football could make up for it all this weekend. The Detroit Lions visit the Philadelphia Eagles in a potential conference championship matchup.
Given the elite talent on both sides, it would take far more than 16 mph winds to consider benching anyone from this game.
