CJ Stroud enters his fourth season leading the Houston Texans, but his fantasy football profile is heavily clouded by low volume and a conservative scheme. Despite his real-life competency, we are three years in, and Stroud has yet to hit 25 TD passes. When you combine that capped passing ceiling with his extremely limited rushing upside, you get a quarterback who consistently lacks the high-end weekly output required for starting fantasy rosters.

This is an elite defensive unit, and the offseason addition of veteran running back David Montgomery strongly signals that this team is perfectly content with trying to make games a race to 20 points.
In 2026, an offensive environment built on grinding out low-scoring wins means a quarterback just isn’t putting up top-12 numbers on any sort of consistent basis. Avoid Stroud in single-QB redraft formats and value him merely as a low-ceiling, game-manager QB2 in Superflex leagues.
