Cam Skattebo suffered a brutal Week 8 injury last season: a dislocated ankle, a tibia and fibula fracture, and a deltoid ligament rupture all in one catastrophic event. Any one of those injuries requires significant offseason attention and rehabilitation, making it all the more impressive that he is currently pacing to be a full-go for the start of the season.
Despite a minor blip early in training camp that included an infamous failed backflip attempt, nothing this summer has escalated to a major health concern.
Can/should fantasy football managers trust him in his second season?
Should I Draft Cam Skattebo in Fantasy Football?
Managers can genuinely feel good about where his current health sits today, an optimistic outcome that felt highly unlikely just a few short months ago and that leaves us with, mainly, just on field production to worry about.
When he was active last season, his usage profile was nothing short of elite. From Weeks 4 through 7, he put together four straight games with at least 15 carries and 2+ receptions.

That rare combination of high-volume rushing and baseline pass-catching work put him in truly exclusive company; he was one of just seven running backs in the entire league to accomplish that feat in 2025, joining superstar names like Jonathan Taylor, Bijan Robinson, Christian McCaffrey, James Cook, Bucky Irving, and Saquon Barkley.
That stretch proved that when Skattebo is fully locked in, the coaching staff trusts him with a true workhorse, three-down role. My optimism was lowered a little bit in the middle of August when this team signed Najee Harris to join a backfield that already had two proven options as backups.

Maybe they are playing things safe, but there is enough experience in this RB room to worry me that they aren’t going to fully unleash this battering ram in the same way they did a year ago.
As long as you are aware of that risk, this isn’t a terrible buy at cost. I do worry about the scoring equity that Dart and Nabers could assume, but Skattebo has the lead role on an offense that we all like to take a big step forward this season.
