With Tua Tagovailoa potentially set to miss time, how does this impact the fantasy football rankings at the QB position entering Week 3 of NFL action?

Through the first two weeks of the 2024 NFL season, Baker Mayfield and Derek Carr are the two highest-scoring fantasy quarterbacks in the league. These two surprises certainly have shaken up the fantasy rankings at the QB position quite a bit.

Here is a closer look at my fantasy football QB rankings for Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season.

The Top QBs To Start in Week 3

    Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens’ 0-2 start to the season doesn’t exactly feel like it is due to the play of Lamar Jackson, who has thrown for over 240 yards and rushed for 40+ yards in both games this season.

For some additional context, Jackson threw for 240+ yards in just five games last year — which was a season where he earned league MVP honors.

The touchdown production hasn’t quite been there yet for Jackson with just two touchdown passes and no rushing touchdowns through the first two games, but it feels like we are on the verge of an explosive game here in the very near future.

Jackson tends to absolutely shred NFC teams who simply don’t face off against him that often, which is a problem when trying to replicate his unique skill set in preparation for facing the Ravens.

In a must-win game on the road against a quality opponent, expect Jackson to take matters into his own hands if the running game doesn’t get going early for the Ravens against the Dallas Cowboys.

    Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati Bengals

Another team in the AFC North off to a slow start is the Cincinnati Bengals, who have losses to New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs on their 2024 résumé through the first two weeks of the season.

After a concerningly bad outing against the Patriots in the season opener, Joe Burrow delivered a bounce-back performance against the defending Super Bowl champs with 258 passing yards and two scores.

It wasn’t a completely clean performance though with two fumbles (one lost) and being sacked three times against Kansas City. The connection with Ja’Marr Chase simply hasn’t been there through the first two games either, but a matchup against a leaky Washington Commanders secondary could cure those ailments very quickly.

Washington is allowing an average of 227 passing yards per game, which is saying something when one of the two quarterbacks you have faced this year is Daniel Jones.

If the Commanders’ pass defense can make Jones look like an above-average quarterback, then expect Burrow to have a big day against this overmatched defense.
