‘How Does Howie Keep Fleecing Like This’ — NFL Fans Praise Eagles GM After Another Surprise Trade

The Philadelphia Eagles’ trade for Jaelan Phillips from the Miami Dolphins took the NFL by surprise, as the Eagles traded for another impact defender to bolster their pass rush. Not only that, but the Eagles only gave up their own 2026 third-round pick for the young edge rusher.

General Manager Howie Roseman once again proved his reputation for making trades at value, landing a talented edge rusher who can contribute immediately to a Super Bowl-caliber team.

How Did Fans React to the Jaelan Phillips Trade?

As soon as the Eagles’ trade for Philips was announced, social media exploded. Fans praised Roseman for pulling off another “fleecing,” noting that the Eagles consistently find ways to make impactful trades without sacrificing significant future assets.

One fan’s reaction sums up what people have known about Roseman for a long time, and the same response is shared by NFL fans across the league. Roseman is second to none in the current NFL landscape of general managers. He consistently finds ways to maximize value while addressing a key roster need.

Another fan compared the Eagles’ trade deadline approach to a nonstop talent haul at a discount, similar to shopping on Black Friday. In this case, Thanksgiving has come early for Roseman.

“Eagles are out here treating the trade deadline like Black Friday…stacking talent nonstop,” the fan wrote.

One fan jokingly compared it to a trade in the video game, Madden. In the game, you can take control of any franchise and tune “sliders” to make the game easier or harder. Just as this fan says, Roseman is playing this game on easy mode, and no one else can compete with him.

It wouldn’t be a typical day on Twitter if someone didn’t find a way to poke fun at the Dallas Cowboys. Despite also needing an edge rusher ever since they traded away Micah Parsons, the Cowboys have been quiet. Roseman’s aggressiveness to get the deal done outclasses the demeanor of his division rivals.

PFSN’s NFL Defensive Impact rating ranks the Dolphins’ defense as 30th in the league. They are giving up 5.9 yards per play and only sacking quarterbacks 6.4% of the time. According to the Dolphins’ depth chart, the hole left by Phillips will be filled by Bradley Chubb, Matthew Judon, and Chop Robinson, barring any further trades.

Compared to the Eagles, the league is ranked 14th defensively, allowing 5.4 yards per play and recording a sack on 5.6% of plays. Phillips should be slotted to start at edge rusher for the team, and his impact should be felt right away.
