The Atlanta Falcons have taken some major steps in their offseason plans, hiring former MVP quarterback Matt Ryan as president of football operations, but it didn’t stop there. They also hired former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski to replace Raheem Morris.
Stefanski is a former 2x NFL Coach of the Year. In Cleveland, he won multiple playoff games, but over the last few years, things haven’t been all that great for him. In 2025, they won a few games, finishing the season with a 5-12 record and last place in the AFC North. Now he gets a fresh start in Atlanta, and a star Falcon had some words for Stefanski.
Bijan Robinson Speaks on Kevin Stefanski
It was reported by Tori McElhaney of the official team site that Falcons’ running back Bijan Robinson spoke about Atlanta hiring Stefanski during a segment on Good Morning Football, ahead of the Super Bowl this week, saying, “I am really excited about it. I talked to Kevin. Great human being. The cool thing is, he has a plan already. You already know he’s (got) a vision of the team, a vision for what he wants.”
Robinson continued and said, “He knows how to utilize everybody for their skillsets. He knows how to put everybody in the right positions. I am super excited about that because I add more than just to the run game, pass game.”
Stefanski is known by many as a good offensive coach and play caller, and the Falcons went with a predominantly offensive coach to lead them in 2026 and beyond. Part of what makes Stefanski good is that he tailors the offense to one’s strengths. The Falcons ranked 18th in PFSN’s NFL Offense Impact Metric in 2025.

With Michael Penix Jr. still rehabbing on the way back from injury, Kirk Cousins may start the season out. Cousins didn’t do all that great the last two years overall, but he put together some solid games this past season. Like in Week 15 against Tampa Bay, where he threw for 3 touchdowns and 373 yards, leading a comeback win.
Stefanski would have to make sure the talent is being utilized, and based on what Robinson said, he may be the right one for the job. Time will tell.
Back in his introductory press conference, Stefanski harped on the development of the players, which included him saying, “I think it is our job as coaches to put structure around them, to put a curriculum together in the offseason to get them up to speed in whatever areas, to give them very specific things that we are going to work on together so they can improve.”
Stefanski will have a very talented roster with a lot of good players; now it’s up to him to coach the team and make sure they’re up to par this season.
