Ex-Chiefs QB Drops 5-Word Reaction to Franchise’s Plans of Leaving Arrowhead Stadium

The Chiefs announced on Monday that they will be relocating from Missouri to Kansas, and one of the team's former quarterbacks was shocked.

The Kansas City Chiefs made a huge announcement on Monday. The team announced that they will move from Missouri to Kansas and build a new stadium across the state line.

Arrowhead Stadium is one of the most iconic venues in the NFL and gives the Chiefs an incredible home-field advantage. Many were shocked that a deal couldn’t be reached to renovate the stadium, including a former quarterback of the team.

Chase Daniel in Disbelief Following Chiefs’ Relocation Announcement

Chase Daniel spent three seasons with the Chiefs as a backup quarterback from 2013 to 2015. The quarterback also played his college ball with the Missouri Tigers, so he has a vested interest in this decision.

Daniel took to social media to respond to the move, and it was clear the former quarterback was shocked. “Wow…this is really happening,” he wrote, replying to the official relocation announcement.

Daniel had a successful career as a backup in the NFL. The former Missouri star played for six different teams across 13 seasons and threw for 1,746 yards with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. He won a Super Bowl as a backup with the New Orleans Saints.

Just a few years ago, it would have been completely unbelievable to hear the Chiefs were abandoning Arrowhead Stadium. However, negotiations with the Kansas City and the Missouri state government proved to be fruitless, and the team had to explore other options.

The good news for Chiefs fans in Missouri is that the team isn’t moving far. The final site hasn’t been determined yet, but it’s expected to be just across the state line.

The new stadium will be a dome and is expected to cost around $3 billion and be ready for the 2031 season.

For Chiefs fans, especially those living in Missouri, this has been a season to forget. The team is set to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2014 and will not win the AFC West for the first time since 2015. Things went from bad to worse in Week 15 when star quarterback Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL. The hope is that the quarterback will be ready for the 2026 season, but the bad news didn’t stop there.

In Week 16, the Chiefs, ranked 15th on PFSN’s OLi Rankings, saw backup quarterback Gardner Minshew also go down with an injury. The team was forced to turn to Chris Oladokun at quarterback, and ended up losing to the Tennessee Titans 26-9.
