The Chiefs, who once dominated the AFC, are struggling this season and currently sit in third place in their division with a 6–9 record. After losing three consecutive games against the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City was officially knocked out of the playoff race.
Adding to the misery, during the Week 15 loss against the Chargers, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL that is expected to require at least nine months to heal. The past few weeks have been brutal for Chiefs fans, and Week 16 only brought more frustration as the team suffered its fourth straight loss, 26-9, this time against the Titans.
The Titans, who sit at the bottom of the AFC South with a 3–12 record, are among the worst-performing teams this season, currently ranking No. 31 on PFSN’s Offense Impact. Losing to them has infuriated fans, who are now heavily criticizing Reid’s decision-making during the game.
In Mahomes’ absence, veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew took command against the Titans, but he and the offense failed to deliver an impressive performance. As the team struggled on Sunday, fans questioned Reid for choosing other players over wide receiver Jalen Royals and running back Brashard Smith, believing both could have provided a spark if given the opportunity.

Another fan, questioning the team selection, pointed out Reid’s poor choices and claimed the coaching staff is currently lost, “Andy Reid and the Chiefs have opted to play. Pacheco > Smith. Not only fans, but experts are also questioning Reid’s decisions. Sports podcaster Mark Gunnels shared a post on X criticizing the move and calling for an explanation regarding the Royals: “I seriously don’t understand why Jalen Royals can’t even get on the field. Can someone please Andy Reid about this after the game?”
So far, this season has been disappointing for Chiefs fans, especially with four straight losses in recent weeks. However, with two games remaining against the Denver Broncos and the Las Vegas Raiders, it will be interesting to see if the Minshew-led team can give fans something to cheer about before wrapping up the campaign.
