The Philadelphia Eagles are the reigning and defending Super Bowl champions, but the 2025-26 season hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for them. However, Nick Sirianni’s squad will be in the NFL playoffs for the fifth straight season after winning its second straight NFC East title.
With the division locked up, can Philadelphia still secure the No. 1 seed in the conference? Let’s delve into the Eagles’ path and the teams they could potentially face in the postseason.
What Are The Eagles’ Chances For NFC’s No.1 Seed?
After a recent three-game skid, the Eagles won back-to-back games against the Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders by a combined score of 60-18. The win over Washington clinched the NFC East crown and a playoff berth for Philadelphia.
They also came away with an impressive win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 18, showing everyone that they are still the team to beat in the NFL.
Despite winning their division and securing their spot in the playoffs, the Eagles cannot clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC. According to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor, Philadelphia has a 0.0% chance of being the conference’s top seed. The most likely teams to secure the No. 1 seed are the Seattle Seahawks (60.90%), San Francisco 49ers (22.6%), and Chicago Bears (12%).
The Eagles entered Week 17 with a 10-5 record, posting two more losses than they did last season. They boast a defense that ranks seventh in PFSN’s Defense Impact metric. However, there has been volatility with Kevin Patullo’s offense, which ranks 13th in our Offense Impact metric.
Despite the roster turnover, offensive inconsistency, and the A.J. Brown drama, this remains a dangerous, battle-tested Philadelphia squad that has proven it has what it takes to reach the mountaintop.
Potential Eagles Opponents in the Playoffs
If the playoffs started today, the Eagles would be the No. 3 seed in the NFC. According to PFSN’s analytics, the 3-seed is their most likely placement, with an 85.0% chance. Philadelphia has a 15% chance of being the No. 2 seed and a 0% chance of getting the 4-seed.

Who could Philadelphia face in the postseason? As it stands, Sirianni and company would play the 6-seed Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round. The Rams are 11-4, which ties for the second-best record in the NFC, but they sit a game behind the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West. They feature the No. 1 offense and the No. 6 defense in PFSN’s Impact metrics.
The Eagles beat Los Angeles twice last season, including in the Divisional Round. They also defeated them 33-26 in Week 3 of this season.
Depending on how the last two weeks shake out, the San Francisco 49ers are another potential opponent. The Niners are also 11-4 in what’s been a strong NFC West in 2025. While Robert Saleh’s defense has struggled at times, San Francisco boasts a top-five offense in our Offense Impact metric, led by Brock Purdy, who is our highest-graded quarterback this season.
Either opponent would be a stiff test for Philadelphia, as both teams are led by elite offensive play-callers and have valuable postseason experience as well.
Eagles Remaining Schedule
- Week 18: Commanders at Eagles
The Week 17 matchup against the Buffalo Bills was easily the toughest matchup remaining on the Eagles’ schedule. Buffalo also had plenty to play for, but Philadelphia handled business against them.
As for the Commanders, they’ve been eliminated from playoff contention. Surely, the players may want to play for pride, but Washington has an incentive to position itself for a higher draft pick.
