Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London has officially been ruled inactive for today’s Week 8 matchup against the Miami Dolphins due to a hip injury suffered late in the week. The injury was unexpected. London practiced in a limited capacity on Friday and was not listed on the final injury report until Saturday, when the team downgraded him to questionable and then deemed him out on Sunday morning.

What Does the Drake London Loss Mean for Atlanta’s Offense?
With London sidelined, Darnell Mooney steps in as the Falcons’ top wideout, while tight end Kyle Pitts becomes the primary receiving threat over the middle. Mooney, who is fully healthy after dealing with a hamstring issue earlier in the season, is expected to see an increase in targets, particularly on intermediate and deep routes where London would have normally operated.
The Falcons are currently ranked 17th in PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric with a 74.8 grade. London has been a major contributor to the team’s success, coming in as the 23rd best WR in PFSN’s WRi with a 79.7 grade.

The Falcons are also missing rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who is out with a knee bruise. Veteran Kirk Cousins will get his first start of the season, returning to the lineup after being benched late last year after struggling.
Cousins has chemistry with Mooney, but his connection with Pitts has been inconsistent in past appearances together. However, with limited receiver options, the tight end should be heavily involved in today’s passing script.
Atlanta’s offense is expected to pivot more heavily toward the running game, featuring Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, especially against a Miami defense that has struggled against the run this season. Allgeier is active despite nagging hip and knee issues, while third-string back Nathan Carter could see additional carries if Atlanta builds an early lead.
