‘Dr. Nic Gill Certainly Earning That Paycheck’ — Ravens Fans Breathe Huge Sigh of Relief Over Latest Nate Wiggins Injury Update

Ravens fans get encouraging news on Nate Wiggins after the cornerback suffered a concerning injury at training camp.

The Baltimore Ravens feared the worst on Tuesday when cornerback Nate Wiggins required a cart to leave the practice field following a left leg injury. Wiggins was unable to put weight on his leg, raising immediate concerns about Baltimore’s secondary depth. However, those fears quickly subsided after early testing revealed no structural or ligament damage.

The encouraging update now gives the Ravens a chance to manage Wiggins’ recovery without facing a major defensive setback.

Nate Wiggins Avoids Major Injury in Massive Relief for Ravens

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the initial medical evaluation of Wiggins brought relief for the Ravens, as early indications suggest the cornerback avoided a serious injury and did not suffer any ligament damage.

While additional tests are still planned to fully assess the knee, the early outlook points toward a much more positive outcome than originally feared.

The injury occurred during a one-on-one passing drill against rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane. Their feet tangled near the end zone, causing Wiggins to fall awkwardly before athletic trainers examined his left leg. He was unable to put weight on the limb and was subsequently carted to the team facility.

Subsequent testing brought more encouraging news.

Ian Rapoport reported that testing showed no long-term structural damage, while Schultz confirmed that Wiggins had no ligament damage. Wiggins could still miss some training camp time, but the initial outlook points toward a shorter absence rather than a season-ending injury.

The news quickly changed the mood around Baltimore, with fans and analysts on X reacting in real time.

A popular media personality who goes by “CuffsTheLegend” reacted simply, writing, “Thank God.”

Another analyst, Steven, referenced the possibility of a much more serious injury before celebrating the update: “This is an 18-month torn ACL with Harbaugh’s aura in the building. Ravens are moving seriously now.”

Another X user highlighted the importance of the news for Baltimore’s new defensive system: “Nate Wiggins avoids major injury. Huge break for Jessie Minter and the Ravens.”

RAMEY added his own reaction with, “PHEWWWWW,” while Samuel Njoku praised the Ravens’ medical staff, writing, “Ravens VP of Health and Performance Dr. Nic Gill is certainly earning that paycheck.”

PREDICT THE NFL SEASON: PFN’s FREE NFL Playoff Predictor

Wiggins remains an important part of Baltimore’s secondary entering his third NFL season. On the first unofficial depth chart of the preseason, released Aug. 10, Wiggins is listed atop one outside cornerback spot, with Chidobe Awuzie, Amani Oruwariye and Bilhal Kone behind him. Marlon Humphrey heads the other corner spot, and Kyle Hamilton is listed first at the nickel/DB position.

The Ravens also received positive news on the offensive side of the ball, as wide receiver Zay Flowers returned to practice following a quad contusion.

Last season, the offense ranked 11th on PFN NFL Offense Impact, but the team will expect improvement in the upcoming season.

With Wiggins’ injury scare behind, the Ravens turn their focus back to preseason preparation with a much clearer picture in the secondary.
