During their early offseason, the Miami Dolphins announced that they hired Jon-Eric Sullivan as their new general manager, taking over for Chris Grier, who was fired in the middle of the season.
Did Jon-Eric Sullivan Name Tua Tagovailoa as a Building Block for the Miami Dolphins?
The Dolphins have a lot of questions going forward, mainly about what to do with the quarterback position with Tua Tagovailoa. However, Sullivan has given some early insight that may indicate Tagovailoa’s future with the team.
Recently on social media, the Dolphins posted a 15-minute conversation with Sullivan discussing all things Miami Football.

During the interview, Sullivan named five different players as “building blocks” for the Dolphins going forward. These players include: wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, running back De’Von Achane, center Aaron Brewer, linebacker Jordyn Brooks, and offensive tackle Patrick Paul.

As you might’ve noticed, there is no mention of the former fifth overall pick, Tagovailoa, who was benched in the latter half of this season for rookie Quinn Ewers. Despite having three years left on his four-year $212,400,000 contract, an early indication could be that time is up in Miami for Tagovailoa, who wasn’t mentioned at all during the 15-minute video.

In case anyone thinks new regime would keep him around…he gone.

In 14 games this season, Tagovailoa completed 67.7% of passes for 2660 passing yards and 20 touchdowns. However, the quarterback also threw for 15 interceptions, the most in a season in his career, and fumbled 8 times while only recovering 4 of them.
In PFSN’s NFL Quarterback Impact Metric, Tagovailoa finished the regular season ranked 27th in the league with an impact score of 72.2 and a letter grade of C-. It’s no wonder the team ranked 19th in PFSN’s NFL Offensive Impact Metric with an impact score of 73.1 and a letter grade of C.
As it would currently appear, Tagovailoa is not part of the team’s future, based on early hints from Sullivan. However, what will the team do with him in the meantime?
