The Miami Dolphins opted for a complete reset this offseason. Parting ways with franchise cornerstones like Tyreek Hill, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jaylen Waddle, they also moved on from head coach Mike McDaniel.
But as they are embracing a new beginning, it might be a rough season ahead for the fan base. During the second week of preseason, though, they got a taste of just how bad things could get.
Miami Dolphins Have an Abysmal Day
Down 20-3 at the halftime mark, the team had managed less than 100 total yards of offense. Converting just three first-downs in that entire period, it was a rude awakening for Dolphins fans about their team’s chances this year.
As one fan claimed, “My goodness, the dolphins are deep, deep, deep, down, down, down bad, to the point to where there’s levels to being [expletive].”
It wasn’t an isolated opinion, though, as fans were aghast at the team’s performance on virtually every level.

As one account drew attention to the special teams, stating, “I realize this is a collection of players who won’t be here when the season begins, but the performance of the special teams through five plus quarters is beyond abysmal.”

Others were flummoxed by the offense: “NFL asking fans to pay for preseason, and we are out here starting Cam Miller.”
The quarterback in question had a rough evening, completing six of 11 passes for just 60 yards while being sacked on two separate occasions.

Others, though, had given up on the season entirely. One fan predicted, “Yeah, the dolphins are winning 2 games max.”
Even though it was the preseason and most of the starters weren’t on the field, fans couldn’t buy it as a reasonable excuse.

Instead, one fan called out the depth and coaching of the team, claiming, “The Dolphins literally have no depth at any position, what are these coaches doing with these players… smh”
Some took it a step further, adding, “It’s historically bad. Worst in dolphins’ history”

It remains to be seen how the team fares when the regular season arrives. But even in a year where there isn’t a ton of optimism about how they’ll perform, the fan base has been wildly disappointed by what they’ve seen so far in preseason.
Hopefully, Jeff Hafley, the new Dolphins head coach, will be able to at least improve their defense, which ranked 27th in the league last season on PFN’s Defense Impact Metric with an impact score of 67.0.
