Dolphins Predicted As Destination for 22-TD WR to Kickstart Malik Willis Era

With Malik Willis arriving on the Miami Dolphins, one analyst believes the team needs more weapons around him on the roster.

The Miami Dolphins finally embraced the inevitable. As it became clear that the team was going nowhere under Tua Tagovailoa’s leadership in terms of contention, they underwent an almost complete roster and staff overhaul.

Now, they’re starting the season with Jeff Hafley as the new head coach and Malik Willis standing under center. However, the weapons around their new quarterback aren’t perfect. As a result, one analyst believes they could bring in some offensive help this summer itself.

Dolphins Have to Add More WRs for Malik Willis

After strong performances as Jordan Love’s backup for the Green Bay Packers, Willis was among the most sought-after names in free agency. Ultimately, chose to play under Hafley and signed with the Dolphins.

However, the situation in Miami isn’t very positive for a young quarterback trying to prove himself in the NFL. After letting go of Tyreek Hill and trading Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos, Miami has fully embraced the rebuild.

That has deserted the offense as a whole, with no wide receiver on their roster ranking in the top 75 last season, according to PFSN’s WR Impact Metric. As a result, PFSN’s Deputy Editor, Alex Kennedy, believes the team could be in the hunt for Jauan Jennings.

“Jauan Jennings has watched as plenty of other WRs have signed new deals, but the 28-year-old remains on the market,” Kennedy wrote. “There were reports that this was in part due to Jennings’ asking price from teams, which may have to come down before he finds a new home.”

Last season, he walked in among the leading candidates to be the primary wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately, an injury-laden season for the entire roster hurt his case. As a result, his numbers took a noticeable dip.

“Jennings’ receiving yards dropped from 975 in 2024 to 643 in 2025,” Kennedy admitted, before arguing, “Still, Jennings recorded a career-high 9 receiving touchdowns this year, leading the 49ers. He’s a 6-foot-3, sure-handed receiver who can block.”

That makes him a viable candidate in Kennedy’s eyes, especially given it’s unlikely the 49ers would bring him back. “With Mike Evans and Christian Kirk landing in San Francisco, Jennings will likely get a fresh start on a new team.”

It remains to be seen if he finds a new home in Miami, but for a young team that can afford to take a few swings and faces a severe dearth at the wide receiver spot, there aren’t too many better options out there than Jennings.

Despite not becoming a regular starter until last season, he’s compiled over 2,500 receiving yards and 22 total touchdowns in his career. That kind of production can be extremely valuable for the Dolphins, especially as it could help them form a proper assessment of Willis.
