Where Are the Two Teams Standing Heading Into the Madrid Game?

Both teams enter Week 11 with 3-7 records, but the Commanders and Dolphins have taken slightly different trajectories in recent weeks. Washington is on a five-game losing streak, with the last four defeats — all coming with a margin of at least 21 points.

The Commanders will again be without second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels, who remains out with an elbow dislocation that he suffered in Week 9.

Meanwhile, Miami has won two of its last three showdowns, including a 30-13 upset over the Buffalo Bills in Week 10, also its largest win against the Bills since 2011. The Dolphins will also hope to improve their 1-5 record in international games when they take the field in Madrid.

Miami has produced one of the league’s highest explosive-play rates in recent weeks and in the PFSN’s Offensive Impact (OFFi) Rating in Week 10 with an 81.5 score, up from a 72.8 score and ranking 20th across the season.

They now face a Washington defense that has allowed the fourth-highest explosive-play rate this season and surrendered 546 yards to the Detroit Lions in Week 10. The Commanders will be without both starting cornerbacks, Marshon Lattimore and Trey Amos, as well as key pass rusher Dorrance Armstrong and suspended defensive tackle Daron Payne.

In the playoff picture, the Dolphins sit 12th in the AFC and hold just a 1.5% chance of reaching the postseason, per PFSN’s Football Playoff Meter (FPM). Miami currently trails a crowded Wild Card group while still being behind the Houston Texans (4–5) and Baltimore Ravens (4–5), and even with a win in Madrid, the Dolphins would still need a significant late-season run to enter the conversation.

Washington, meanwhile, is 14th in the NFC at 3–7, well behind a Wild Card group currently led by the Philadelphia Eagles (7–2). The Commanders would require a near-perfect finish and multiple teams stumbling for them to have any realistic hopes of making the postseason.
