The Los Angeles Rams have been among the top teams in the NFL this season, consistently ranking among the top teams in the league’s power rankings. The Rams have a 10-3 record and are currently the one seed in the NFC playoff picture.
Los Angeles made a big move this offseason by adding to their already dynamic roster: they signed veteran wide receiver Davante Adams. He’s been great, but the Rams released a concerning update today that could jeopardize his availability for Week 15 against the Detroit Lions.
Will Davante Adams Play Against the Lions?
Adams has been spectacular this season, but after a 45-17 victory last week in which he recorded four receptions for 29 yards, Adams has appeared on the injury list on Wednesday and Thursday with a DNP, or Did Not Participate designation due to a hamstring injury.
Adams told reporters that the injury occurred in the team’s Week 13 game against the Carolina Panthers, in which he caught four receptions for 58 yards and two touchdowns. As a result, he appeared on the Week 14 injury list with a DNP on Wednesday, limited participation on Thursday, and was a full participant on Friday.
It is potentially concerning that Adams isn’t following the same course of practice that he did last week, when the injury was fresher. Is it possible the injury got worse? Are the Rams just giving him extra time to recover for a big game against the Lions? Nothing is specific yet, but tomorrow should be a good indication of his availability for this upcoming Sunday.
Adams is back on track after having a disappointing season last year for his standards. He played for two teams: the Las Vegas Raiders and then was traded to the New York Jets to reunite with Aaron Rodgers. He ranked 23rd in PFSN’s WRi metrics, and in three games with the Raiders, he caught 18 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown.
After the trade to the Jets, he caught 67 passes for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. Altogether, it was a combined 85 receptions for 1063 yards and eight touchdowns.
This season, Adams has caught 56 passes for 718 yards and an astounding league-leading 14 receiving touchdowns. He’s been a touchdown machine, propelling the Rams to the number one offense in the league in PFSN’s OFFi metrics, with an impact score of 93.8 and a letter grade of A. For reference, the Indianapolis Colts are ranked second and have an impact score of 88.9.
Should Adams not play, quarterback Matthew Stafford will rely heavily on receiver Puka Nacua and running back Kyren Williams.
