What’s Wrong With Bills TE Dalton Kincaid?

Kincaid was looking to get involved in the Bills’ offense behind quarterback Josh Allen, but he had to leave the game due to an injury.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Kincaid left the game after grabbing his right hamstring.

At this point, Kincaid is questionable to return. His loss would be a major one to the Bills’ offense going forward.

It’s no secret that the Bills lack quality wide receivers. Kincaid had been Josh Allen’s most reliable pass catcher despite limited total volume. This sure looks like a multi-week absence.

Without Kincaid, it will be Dawson Knox serving as the primary tight end. We’ve already seen what he looks like in that role, and there is nothing here for fantasy purposes. It’s hard to say there is a clear beneficiary here. Khalil Shakir is the top receiver, but he operates almost exclusively near the line of scrimmage. Unfortunately, there’s nothing actionable here. It’s simply bad for Allen and the Bills’ offense.

According to the PFSN NFL TE Impact metrics, Kincaid has an 87.3 TE Impact Score and grades out with a B+. His TE Impact metrics are better than teammates Jackson Hawes and Knox.

Against the Dolphins, Kincaid has two catches for 37 yards and has been targeted three times on passes from Allen.

Kincaid was a first-round draft choice out of Utah by the Bills in the 2023 NFL Draft. He was the No. 25 overall draft choice by Buffalo. As for the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, the Bills have a 90.8 Offense Impact Score and grade out at an A-.

The Bills have one of the best offenses in the entire NFL thanks to Allen’s ability as Buffalo’s starting quarterback. Kincaid is one of those targets that Allen really needs to have available all the time.

With Kincaid questionable to return, that adds more pressure on Allen to complete passes to his other receiving outlets. Look for Buffalo to do what it can on offense without their star tight end in the game. Right now, Buffalo needs to get on the scoreboard as the Dolphins lead into the fourth quarter.
