Cowboys Co-Owner Charlotte Jones Makes Feelings Clear on Bad Bunny Performing At Super Bowl Halftime Show

The selection of Bad Bunny as the performer for the Super Bowl 60 halftime show has proven extremely contentious, with many voicing their disapproval.

Dallas Cowboys co-owner Charlotte Jones was asked about Bad Bunny playing the halftime show in a recent appearance on “The Katie Miller Podcast,” and made it clear how she feels about the league’s pick of performer.

Cowboys Co-Owner Sends Message on Bad Bunny Halftime Show

Much of the controversy surrounding Bad Bunny’s selection has centered on his Spanish-language music.

However, Jones sees him as a fitting choice given the NFL’s worldwide appeal.

“I think it’s awesome,” Jones said. “Our Latina fanbase is amazing. I think when you think about the Super Bowl, you want the number one performer in the world to be there.

“We’re on a global stage, and we can’t ever forget that. Our game goes out to everybody around the world, and to get the premier entertainer to want to be a part of our game, I think, is amazing.”

Jones added that Bad Bunny’s selection reflects the diversity of the United States.

“We have a mixed culture,” Jones continued. “Our whole society is based on immigrants that have come here and founded our country. I think we can celebrate that. I think the show’s going to be amazing.”

Bad Bunny’s consistent criticism of President Donald Trump has added to the controversy around his halftime show.

However, Jones does not believe the watching audience will be concerned with that when Bad Bunny takes to the stage in the Bay Area.

“I don’t think our game’s about politics,” Jones added. “I don’t think people tune in to look at politics. We do everything we can to avoid politics.

“I think in that moment, people will be watching the game, they’ll be celebrating music, and nobody will be thinking about what comments on the left side, what comments on the right side. This is about bringing people together.”

Jones’ comments echo the sentiment of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who said last month: “We’re confident it’s going to be a great show. He [Bad Bunny] understands the platform that he’s on, and I think it’s going to be exciting and a united moment.”

Goodell explained that the choice of Bad Bunny was simple: he is one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world.
