The 10-4 Los Angeles Chargers are coming off a monumental victory over divisional rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and they did it without one of their top receivers, Quentin Johnston.
Now, heading into their Week 16 matchup with the 6-7-1 Dallas Cowboys, an offense that has had its fair share of troubles will look to get one of their dynamic receivers back on the field. However, the week of practice has not gone as planned for the former first-round pick, putting his status in doubt once again.
What’s the Latest on Quentin Johnston?
After missing his second game of the season against the Cheifs in Week 15, Johnston has appeared on the injury report ahead of Week 16.
Johnston continues to deal with what the team has termed a groin injury, which has limited him in practice throughout the week.
Through three days of practice, the former TCU wide receiver was not a full participant even once.
The injury has put his status in doubt for Sunday’s affair with the Cowboys. The Chargers have officially ruled him questionable.

Injuries Derailing Johnston’s Season
The Chargers’ wide receiver had gotten off to a hot start, but injuries have derailed his production, much like what the rest of the Chargers offense has dealt with this season.
Johnston has appeared in 12 of the team’s 14 games this season, but has only started in eight. He has recorded 42 receptions for 533 receiving yards and seven touchdowns to go along with that. Numbers that are down from last year, even with all the concerning drops he suffered from last season. Injuries have clearly hindered Johnston’s production in the third year of his NFL career.

Despite the Chargers accumulating a 69.2 (D+) OFFi score, which ranks 25th in the league according to PFSN’s metrics, Jim Harbaugh’s team has consistently found ways to win. Harbaugh has refused to let injuries be an excuse this season, with star tackles Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater sidelined for the season, and Herbert playing with a broken hand, the Chargers have impressively rolled forward instead of rolling over.
If Johnston is unable to go again this week, that next man up mentality that coach Harbaugh has lived by this season will once again come into effect inside the wide receiver room.
