Keenan Allen has spent all but one of his 13 NFL seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, becoming one of the most productive wide receivers in franchise history. He proved it again on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, setting another record. After the game, teammate Ladd McConkey joined ESPN’s “SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt” to share his thoughts on the 33-year-old.
Ladd McConkey Comments on Keenan Allen’s Future
The Chargers came away from Week 10 of the 2025 NFL season with a crucial 25-10 victory against the Steelers. The outcome is important for the AFC playoff picture, but the game was an iconic moment for Allen. His two catches were enough for him to set the Chargers’ all-time record for career receptions.
He surpassed legendary tight end Antonio Gates, who racked up 955 career catches with the Chargers during his 16-year Hall of Fame career. Allen hit the mark in 87 fewer games. McConkey later sat down and discussed what Allen means to the team, also commenting on how much he could have left in the tank.
“He’s got a ton of juice. I told him, I was like, man, you could do this for ten more years. He’s been huge, just his presence in our room, being a leader. He’s been around this league, he’s made so many great plays, so for me, personally, it’s huge to have him, and I’m so lucky that he came back to play for us this year,” stated McConkey.

The veteran recorded 70 receptions for the Chicago Bears last year in his one season away from Los Angeles. But it has been a milestone-filled return for Allen, who also notched his 1,000th career catch and became the only player in NFL history with 400 receptions from two different quarterbacks.
Jerry Rice is the all-time leader with 1,549 receptions, but if Allen takes McConkey’s advice and plays for another decade, he could potentially catch him.
He currently ranks 14th among all players and 11th among wide receivers on the all-time receptions list. If he records 44 more, he would not only hit 1,000 bar for the Chargers, but he would also sneak into the all-time top-ten in NFL history.
He has continued to play at a high level, currently ranking 29th on PFSN’s Impact Rankings for this season. He ranks higher than McConkey and Quentin Johnston, demonstrating his value to the Chargers, even at his age.
