DJ Lagway Injury Update: Is the Baylor QB Okay?

Lagway needed help getting back to the locker room after suffering an apparent leg injury as the game entered halftime.

At halftime, he had completed 17 of his 25 passes for 199 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Baylor trailed by three at the half, and Lagway was fortunately able to return to the game to start the second half.

Lagway returned with a taped-up ankle. Baylor needs to protect him in the second half to prevent a potential re-injury, especially since he was already playing through pain in the first half.

Lagway is making his Baylor debut after transferring from Florida, and he’s looking for a fresh start. Lagway struggled last season for Florida, and with a new coaching staff coming in, he made his exit. He didn’t pick a lower-pressure situation, as the hot seat surrounding head coach Dave Aranda will heat up if the Bears continue to underperform.

Baylor needs to right the ship in the second half. Lagway has been solid, but far from perfect. They need to get more out of their running game to help their passing game. They’ll have to rely on establishing the ground game in the second half if Lagway struggles with his injury. Lagway is fighting through his injury and will need some extra help to get through it.

The Bears can thank their defense for keeping them in the game in the first half after the offense managed only seven points. If their defense keeps playing like this, they have a great shot to change their fortunes with just some improvement from Lagway. The Tigers could also make some noise, though, with the dynamic Brown able to hurt Baylor both on the ground and through the air at times.
