Although former Alabama head coach Nick Saban’s coaching career is over, the Alabama community still remembers him as a legend. The community he served for 17 years knows that he always seemed cold, serious, and kind of scary as a coach. He was never playful, which prompted some fans to joke that Saban is not a human.
But now, thanks to his daughter’s playful Instagram post, we get to see a totally different side of him: relaxed, goofy, and just enjoying life. In the very latest post, we found our legendary coach riding a lawn mower during his family’s Fourth of July celebration.

Nick Saban Spotted Riding Lawn Mower in Daughter’s Viral Fourth of July Clip
It was a moment that was both wholesome and hilarious. The legendary Alabama coach was caught riding a zero-turn riding lawn mower during his family’s Fourth of July celebration.
The video, which quickly gained attention online, gave fans a rare glimpse into Saban’s life after football. It’s unclear who captured the video, but his daughter Kristen Saban shared the adorable moment in her recent Instagram post.
The post, captioned “Family 4th ♥️🤍🩵,” features 11 slides of the Saban family enjoying their holiday together. However, the third slide showcases Nick, dressed casually and confidently, wheeling his new “Hot Wheels” across the floor. It was a rare glimpse into the relaxed, off-duty life of one of college football’s most intense figures.

This was not the first time Kristen celebrated a “Family 4th” on Instagram. The post echoed a similar one she made last year from their Georgia home. Like last year, the first slide shows the entire Saban clan gathered on the front steps. Even the family dog makes a return.
The biggest difference this year seems to be the outfits. Later in the day, the family enjoyed a fireworks show, which is visible on the sixth slide.
The unexpected clip adds to the growing list of signs that the 73-year-old has changed since retiring. The once super-serious coach is now doing fun, silly things with his family. Thanks to his legendary career, he now enjoys a relaxed life, having achieved almost everything possible in coaching.
Interestingly, the room where he was seen riding his “Hot Wheels” appears to be under renovation. Many items were covered in the corner, suggesting construction or remodeling was underway.
The video clip has become internet gold. Everyone in the comments section was wishing the Saban family a “Happy 4th.” One comment really stood out.
“You have the best family,” @ashleebrumsey wrote to Kristen. “Your sweet dad sent a signed football for my granddad’s 100th birthday yesterday. It was very nice of him to do that for my pawpaw. ❤️”
Since retiring in early 2024, Nick has remained connected to Alabama. He recently appeared at recruiting visits and met with top prospects like Cederian Morgan. He is also a regular face on ESPN’s College GameDay. But the lawn mower moment isn’t something fans get every day.
