Few names are more legendary in the world of football than Deion Sanders, the two-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Famer, who has since become a college football coach for the Colorado Buffaloes, turning that program around.
Their new season got off to a tremendous start, beating Georgia Tech 14-13 thanks to a late 20-yard touchdown pass by Julian Lewis to Charlie Williams.
In a nice touch by the coach, he didn’t let the locker room celebrations stop him from being classy toward their opponents in a viral clip he’s gaining plaudits for.

Sanders cut short the locker room celebrations to impress on his players the need to be “respectful” to their opponents and to ensure they left the visitors’ locker room clean.
Sanders told his players, “Let’s make sure we leave this locker room clean when we leave; let’s be respectful. Don’t say nothin’ crazy about our opponents because they fought their [expletive] off, and I have a lot of respect for their coach and their coaching staff. They played really well, so let’s be mindful of that.”
Along with his nod to their respect for Georgia Tech, he was also proud of his team: “I love you, I appreciate you, and more than ever I’m proud of you, and never gave up on you.”

This was a classy and inspiring message from the Colorado head coach, and many on social media echoed that sentiment.

Another user agreed and replied: “With you 110%. Great player, great dad, great analyst, great coach, great man. Hard not to love and respect Prime on and off the field”
A Pittsburgh Steelers fan account was equally complimentary and called out anyone who disagrees: “Humble and classy in victory. Why people look to continuously scrutinize him is simply an indictment on them.”

National Football Director and former NFL Quarterback, Sean Salisbury, quote-tweeted the video and exclaimed, “This!”

Meanwhile, one X user commented: “Love that Coach Prime. Respect for your opponent, in victory or defeat.”
Furthermore, a Michigan fan account put aside any rivalry and wrote: “I’ll be honest… I regularly get annoyed with the Coach Prime hype machine, but this video shows an important side of him. Super respectable.”
Nevertheless, one cynic remained, despite the overwhelming positivity: “And he made extra sure there was a camera crew there to film himself saying it!”
However, this isn’t unusual for Sanders’ coaching methods; he believes in holding his players accountable, and he likes his teams respectful and disciplined within a strong locker-room culture to get the best results.
This is most certainly not for the cameras. His methods are clearly working: Travis Hunter was taken 2nd overall in last year’s draft, and his son, Shedeur, was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and earned starts as a rookie.
