After being the center of attention thanks to a cryptic post from Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy recently set a record against the Florida Gators. The buildup to this game was dominated by the storyline surrounding Lacy, Kiffin, and the Florida job.
Ahead of today’s game, Kiffin’s Ole Miss was looking to solidify their place in the playoffs. According to PFSN’s College Football Playoff Meter, they had a 94.1% chance of reaching the playoff. However, after a loss to Georgia, they are almost guaranteed out of the race for the SEC Championship Game.
Kewan Lacy Sets New Ole Miss Record
After rushing in for a touchdown against Florida, the Ole Miss running back set a massive record that has etched him firmly in the Rebels’ history books. This came after a series of cryptic posts from the head coach that led back to his star Running Back.
“TOUCHDOWN OLE MISS Kewan Lacy finds the end zone, from three yards out. Lacy has now broken the single season rushing touchdown record with 17 Ole Miss: 7 Florida: 0 Q1: 9:09,” an Ole Miss fan account announced.

Lacy was a four-star prospect and a Top 200 recruit in the 2024 class. After initially signing with Missouri, the Rebels picked him up in the transfer portal. According to PFSN’s College Football RB impact rankings, Lacy is the seventh-best running back in the nation with an 86.6 impact score.
This season, Ole Miss’s star running back has rushed for 17 touchdowns, as well as 912 yards, averaging over 4.56 YPC. His touchdown today took him ahead of Cleveland Browns running back Quinshon Judkins, who had 16 touchdowns in his freshman year.
Additionally, after rushing for over 73 yards against the Gators, the Ole Miss Running Back is set to break 1000 yards on the year. Before today’s game, Lacy needed just 88 yards to reach 100, meaning he has just 15 left to go with most of the game still to come.

“He’s really mature, prepares really well, elite speed. The full package… showing a lot of toughness. Pass protection as well. Didn’t know for sure in high school. We’re really pleased,” Kiffin stated when talking about the Running Back recently.
Lacy also became the center piece of a conspiracy surrounding the Ole Miss head coach. After Kiffin posted a photo, there was a hat that was headlined with the title “Lane Kiffin,2026, BTA,” which many have taken to suggest as meaning Belt to Ass.
“It means ‘belt to ass,’ TD celebration started by the incredible Kewan Lacy.” Was one fan’s suggestion in reference to the Ole Miss Running Back Kewan. The BTA celebration has become synonymous with Lacy’s time in Mississippi.
During a recent game this month against the South Carolina Gamecocks, Ole Miss fans, mainly in the student section, celebrated the 30-14 win by clapping their hands together to create a snapping sound, in celebration of Lacy’s performance, which included rushing for over 100 yards.
Ahead of their 2025 playoff charge, the belt to ass celebration has become one of the driving forces behind the team’s mentality. With one of the most explosive offenses in College football, including Lacy, they do not hold back against teams.
