Several college football general managers and NIL collective officials discussed the market around Seaton’s transfer in a conversation with On3’s Pete Nakos. One source estimated that Seaton secured roughly $3- $6 million to join Kiffin’s squad for the 2026 season. If it is close to correct, the agreement would rank among the largest publicly known NIL deals ever for an offensive lineman.
Seaton’s reported valuation could reshape the transfer market as the financial arms race in college football continues to increase. With this, the money tied to these moves is expected to keep climbing, as analyst RJ Young mentioned on Tuesday’s episode of his “Adapt & Respond” podcast.
“(Seaton) enters the portal, and I thought that there were any number of places he could go, but Oregon and LSU alongside Miami ended up being the three to look at, and LSU came in with a loud number,” Young said.
“Jordan Seaton’s numbers give me heartburn for what’s coming next year. I’ve heard anywhere from $3 million to $6 million on him alone. I think $3 million I can wrap my head around. Anything more, no way.
“I already believe he is the highest-paid offensive lineman in history. While you might seek that tongue-in-cheek, think about it. How much more are we willing to pay offensive linemen in five years? If you’re paying $3 million this year, why aren’t you paying at least 10 in five? And if the roster is $40 million now, why isn’t it closer to $100 million 10 years from now?”

LSU finished No. 2 in the On3 Team Transfer Portal Rankings after adding 40 transfers, headlined by Seaton. The former Colorado offensive tackle earned second-team All-Big 12 honors from league coaches last season, allowed one sack in nine games, and posted a 76.9 grade in the PFSN CFB Player OL Impact Metric.
The Tigers’ aggressive portal haul also included Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt and Ole Miss EDGE rusher Princewill Umanmielen. Reports indicate LSU made a huge financial commitment to Leavitt as well, with his NIL package also reaching the $6 million range, placing him among the highest-paid quarterbacks in this portal cycle.
With revenue sharing now fully in place, college football has entered a new economic era. Kiffin’s squad is hardly alone in spending big, as Miami, Texas Tech, and Texas have also reportedly maintained high levels of NIL investment. However, dominating the offseason spending race does not always translate into success, as we have seen in the last few years.
