Before going to the Denver Broncos and snagging a touchdown reception in the NFL Playoffs, Frank Crum played college football at the University of Wyoming, where he spent six seasons protecting quarterbacks and carrying on a family legacy that spans three generations of Cowboys football.
Frank Crum’s Wyoming Cowboys Career
Crum grew up in Laramie, Wyoming, and never seriously considered going anywhere else. His grandfather Earl lettered for Wyoming in 1940. His father Gary earned All-Western Athletic Conference honors as an offensive lineman and served as team captain in 1981.
When Frank signed with the Cowboys as a zero-star recruit out of Laramie High School in 2018, he became the first Plainsman to earn a Division I football scholarship in nearly two decades.
“To carry on a three-generation legacy means the world to me,” Crum told NFL Network’s Stacey Dales at the 2024 NFL Combine. “It was a no-brainer going to Wyoming out of high school, to play for my hometown, my home state.”

Crum redshirted his first year, then worked his way into the lineup by 2019 with 12 appearances and five starts. He grabbed the starting right tackle job full-time during the COVID-shortened 2020 season and never let go.
Over his final four years, Crum started all 44 games and developed into one of the Mountain West’s most reliable blockers.
The 6’7″, 315-pound tackle earned honorable mention All-Mountain West honors in 2021 and all-conference recognition from Pro Football Focus in 2022. He moved from right tackle to left tackle as a sixth-year senior in 2023 and earned first-team All-Mountain West honors while protecting quarterback Andrew Peasley’s blindside.
How Frank Crum Went From Undrafted to Denver’s Roster
Crum finished his Wyoming career with 56 games played and 49 starts. He turned heads at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, running a 4.94-second 40-yard dash that tied for second among 70 offensive linemen. His vertical jump (31.5 inches) and broad jump (9 feet, 6 inches) further showcased his athleticism.

Despite the strong testing, Crum went undrafted in April 2024. The Denver Broncos signed him as an undrafted free agent, and he beat the odds by making the team’s initial 53-man roster — one of just three undrafted rookies to accomplish that feat.
Crum appeared in six games during his rookie season, contributing on both offense and special teams while developing behind Denver’s veteran tackles.
