Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has been playing at a high level in the NFL this season. Nix and the Broncos are hosting quarterback Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on Saturday in Denver in an AFC Divisional Round playoff game.
Whoever wins between Denver and Buffalo will advance to the AFC Championship Game next weekend. Nix, for his part, developed into a top-NFL draft choice while playing college football. His college record is worth checking out.
Where Did Broncos QB Bo Nix Play In College?
For Nix, his college football experience spanned two of the best programs in the nation: the Auburn Tigers in the SEC and the Oregon Ducks in the Pac-12 Conference.
In three seasons at Auburn, Nix completed 59.4% of his passes to go along with 39 touchdown passes and 16 interceptions. Nix, though, moved along to play at Oregon under head coach Dan Lanning. While with the Ducks, Nix completed 74.9% of his passes, threw 74 touchdown passes, and had only 10 interceptions.
Based on Nix’s final season with the Ducks in 2023, he finished in third place in voting for the Heisman Trophy. Nix went on to become a first-round draft pick (No. 12 overall) by the Broncos in the 2024 NFL Draft. As for Nix’s education, he earned a degree in communications from Auburn along with a minor in sports coaching.
He’s played a key role in getting the Broncos into the NFL playoffs this season. According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, measured throughout the regular season, Nix had an impact score of 78.6 and graded out to a C+.
In looking at his 2025 NFL regular-season numbers, Nix threw for 3,931 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
What about Nix off the field? He’s been married to his Auburn sweetheart, Izzy, since 2022. The Nixes are currently expecting their first child, too. Additionally, Bo’s father, Patrick, also played college football at Auburn.
But Nix can look back on his five-year college football career with pride as he earned SEC Freshman of the Year honors in 2019 at Auburn and Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 accolades, too.
On Saturday, though, Nix’s focus will be on helping the Broncos’ offense run smoothly against the Bills. If Nix can get a win on his home turf, then follow that up with an AFC Championship Game victory, and then the Broncos will return to the Super Bowl.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton has been working hard to ensure Denver remains in the mix for Nix.
