CFB Fans Demand Sonny Dykes’ Firing After Embarrassing Loss to UNC

While Belichick was placed by many fans on their list of head coaches in the hot seat heading into the 2026 season, the outcome of the game turned their attention to Sonny Dykes instead.

While both teams started similarly, Dykes made a few calls that might have cost the program the game.

After the matchup ended with a 15-10 win for the Tar Heels, fans expressed frustration with Dykes as the TCU head coach.

“TCU will not be bowl eligible, and UNC will be 6-6 by the end of the regular season. What an embarrassing and sloppy loss for the Big 12. Sonny Dykes is fired before the end of the season. Book it.” UCF Alum Myles Giller said.

“Sonny dykes what an embarrassing performance. That gets u on the hot seat instantly.” Another fan named “Josh” added.

“Fire Sonny Dykes and cut Jaden Craig.” Stan Darsh demanded.

“Sonny Dykes, welcome to the hot seat. My goodness, this is a horribly coached team.” Reporter Dusty Baker commented after TCU’s loss.

“There’s no excuse. This is 100% on Sonny.

– chaos and controversy leading up to the game
– not mentally prepared
– ridiculous penalties
– horrifically bad offense and play calling
– bad defense

Enough. I’m on the Fire Sonny bandwagon.” Another TCU fan highlighted.

TCU quarterback Jaden Craig also faced a lot of criticism for his performance during the UNC matchup, which was his first with the Horned Frogs after he transferred from Harvard in the offseason.

Defending his play, Dykes called Craig a talented guy and added that the program believes in Craig 100%.
