College football is back, and America knows it. Although the first game is taking place in Dublin, college football fans in the States are ready.
Even Donald Trump and the White House joined in on the excitement with a tweet on X celebrating the triumphant return of college football. This led to some mixed reactions on social media, while most of them criticized Trump and his administration.

Another post on social media claimed that college football is simply a distraction from what the administration is doing. The text in the picture shared by a fan read: “Give them bready and circuses and they will never revolt,” which is a quote from Juvenal.

Others focused on the important issues in the country that need addressing, rather than a meaningless post about college football returning.
“Terrific, how about affordable gas and groceries? You planning on bringing them back anytime or are you still too consumed playing with AI and social media?” said one user.

Another addressed Trump’s obsession with sporting events, as he’s attended the Super Bowl, the NBA Finals, and even a PGA Tour event while serving as president.
“Can’t only work for yourself and make constant posts about sports. Then call yourself the greatest President. As prices still suck and you are making billions,” added another user.

It wasn’t only hate coming Trump’s way, though, as people enjoyed the tribute to college football’s return for the year, with their patriotism on full display.
“Never felt more seen and represented by a White House than I do right now,” said one college football fan.

It’s only a taste of college football for FBS fans with Week 1 just around the corner next weekend. But most don’t care, with some power conference teams in action to get them ready for a full slate next week. The White House made sure to sound the alarms that college football is back, even though it drew criticism toward Trump.
