How likely is that, however? These are two closely matched teams, with this game capable of turning on the smallest of margins.
Delaware’s confidence stems from an offense that has been more efficient than its opponents, particularly in the passing game and the turnover battle. Behind Nick Minicucci, they have a legitimate dual threat (15 total scores), who earned PFSN Midseason All-CUSA honors earlier in the week. Yet, they’re also multifaceted, with Jo Silver adding a dangerous ground alternative.
Defensively, the Blue Hens have allowed fewer points per game than the Gamecocks (albeit marginally), and their pass defense has had an element of bend but don’t break. They’ve allowed 239.2 passing yards per game, yet they’ve given up just seven passing touchdowns, tied for the third-fewest in CUSA so far this year. Safety KT Seay is a key player to watch on the back end.
Furthermore, Jacksonville State has had some difficulties stopping the passing game, allowing 7.9 yards per game and 10 touchdowns, while only snagging three interceptions so far this season.
