QB Dante Moore Donates $10K to Alma Mater

Moore shared a video on Instagram highlighting his visit, captioned “for the love of the city.” Oregon’s QB1 presented a $10,000 check, made possible through his NIL earnings, to his alma mater, Martin Luther King High School.

“I just want to give you guys $10,000 to take care of jerseys, travel, food, whatever is needed,” Moore said.

In addition to being the 2023 Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year in high school, Moore played youth sports in the Detroit Police Athletic League.

The video also showed Moore reading and signing copies of his children’s book, “From Journey to Dream.” The book chronicles his path through football and encourages young readers to dream big while embracing their journey.

Moore’s football path hasn’t been without ups and downs. The former five-star recruit ranked No. 2 nationally by ESPN and No. 3 by 247Sports in the 2023 class initially committed to Oregon before flipping to the UCLA Bruins after OC Kenny Dillingham left to coach Arizona State.

At UCLA, Moore saw action in nine games with five starts, tallying 1,610 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

He opened the season strong, throwing for 615 yards and seven touchdowns in the first three games. But he faced a rough stretch against the Utah Utes, Washington State Cougars, and Oregon State Beavers. He threw for 689 yards, three touchdowns, six interceptions, and was sacked 16 times.

In 2024, Moore returned to Oregon and redshirted behind QB Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft at 94th overall.

Now entering 2025 as a redshirt sophomore, Moore is expected to take the reins as the Ducks’ starting QB. If he rises to the occasion, he could become Oregon’s third straight quarterback to reach the Heisman conversation, following Gabriel in 2024 and Bo Nix in 2023, who both finished third in voting.

The Ducks are coming off a dominant 13-1 season, including a perfect conference run and a Big Ten Championship. With Moore now leading the charge and already leading off the field, Oregon fans have every reason to believe he could be the next star in the program’s storied QB lineage.
