Sponsors Take Over Louisville-Ole Miss Field

The center of the field featured the neutral-site event branding alongside a prominent Liberty Mutual logo.

Bright yellow Liberty Mutual advertising strips also covered both sides of the field, stretching from around the 33-yard line to the 17-yard line.

Beyond that, FrogTape and Bloom Energy ads covered parts of the playing surface, leaving fans feeling that corporate advertisements had taken over the traditional look of a college football field.

Fans took to social media to criticize the oversaturated field, with many feeling that the number of advertisements had gone too far.

CFB Kings summed up the frustration, writing, “What are they doing to our sport, man… This is absolutely hideous.”

Others joked about what could come next if the trend continues. One fan wrote, “Soon there will be advertisements on the helmets.”

Another die-hard had perhaps the strongest reaction, saying, “I’m not watching this game anymore. Disgusting.”

College Football Zone took the joke even further, sharing an edited image of a football field covered in advertisements and captioning it, “College football fields by 2030.”

Meanwhile, analyst Chanluh could barely believe the setup, writing, “This has to be a joke right wth.”

While corporate sponsorship has become an increasingly common part of college football, many fans felt the Louisville-Ole Miss field took things a step further.

The large advertising zones became difficult to ignore and sparked debate over how far commercialization should go before it detracts from the sport’s look and tradition.
