NBC continued its weekend of college football telecasts with the No. 4-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish facing off against the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday night. Given that the game was on NBC, play-by-play announcer Dan Hicks and analyst Jason Garrett were on the call.
Garrett, who spent years in the NFL as both a player and coach, joined NBC Sports in 2022 and now works as a Notre Dame game analyst and Football Night in America studio analyst.
Fans listening to Sunday night’s game, though, wished he would steer clear of the broadcast booth.
Jason Garrett Ripped by CFB Fans During Notre Dame Telecast
One college football fan suggested that NBC dump Garrett in favor of ESPN Radio host Mike Golic Jr.
Golic Jr. teams up with his father, Mike Golic, on “The Golics” radio show.
“Can we get Mike Golic Jr. to replace Jason Garrett? Dude is awful,” one fan wrote online during the Notre Dame-Wisconsin game.

Another enthusiast posted a pointed question to NBC Sports broadcast officials, asking, “NBC Sports, why is Jason Garrett still calling Notre Dame Football games?”

Another suggested that Garrett should be sent far, far away from an NBC Sports broadcast booth, writing, “Whenever contract renewals come up, ND Football needs to force NBC Sports to send Jason Garrett at least 100miles from any booth. He’s as insufferable as ever.”
One fan stated that he couldn’t see how Garrett’s commentary during games helps viewers at home. He wrote, “I have no idea how Jason Garrett got this job, but he should be fired at halftime for making the most brain-dead comments every play.”

Another took a hilarious jab at Garrett, joking that he can make some people almost wish for memory loss: “Jason Garrett doesn’t cause dementia, he just makes you wish for it.”

As much as these fans dislike Garrett’s commentary, NBC Sports appears committed to him as Notre Dame’s game analyst and a Football Night in America studio analyst.
NFL fans will probably join this group’s calls for Garrett to be fired once Sunday Night Football starts in earnest.
