‘The Girlfriend Stuff’ – Jordon Hudson Antics Draws ‘Embarrassing’ Verdict on Bill Belichick Amid UNC’s $20M Dilemma

Bill Belichick offered new hope to Chapel Hill. Instead, it went up in smoke pretty quickly. As the calendar turns to May 2026, the eight-time Super Bowl champion finds himself at the center of a storm that blends poor on-field performance with high-profile personal distractions.

Bill Belichick Faces Scrutiny Over Off-Field Drama and Poor Results at North Carolina

National analyst David Ubben recently appeared on the latest episode of “Bunch Formation” and delivered a blistering assessment of the state of North Carolina football. The central figure in the off-field drama is 25-year-old Jordon Hudson, whose presence in the program has reportedly become a friction point.

Ubben didn’t hold back as he said, “I think that the hardcore argyle-wearing, you know, Hubert Davis-firing folks look around and they say, ‘Hey, last year was embarrassing.’ Like the off-field stuff, the girlfriend stuff, he can do what he wants in his personal life, but like a lot of that stuff was embarrassing to North Carolina, period.”

Reports from inside the program suggested that Hudson’s involvement had reached unprecedented levels for a coach’s partner. Rumors indicate that Hudson is copied on all of Belichick’s official Carolina emails to manage his schedule and professional interactions.

Belichick and Hudson’s getaway to Nantucket ahead of the Clemson game also drew strong reactions. What stirred fans was Hudson’s consistent appearance on the sidelines during the 2025 season, reportedly giving pep talks to players.

“That’s not how they wanted to represent the school. And then you go on the field, well, Mack Brown wasn’t good enough for you. You hire this guy with the master plan and the Super Bowl rings and your program immediately gets worse, and you suffer some of the worst losses that you’ve seen,” Ubben continued.

If this were any other coach, a 4-8 debut might have already led to a pink slip. However, North Carolina is staring down a massive financial hurdle. With two years of that guarantee remaining through 2027, firing Belichick today would cost the university more than $20 million in buyout money.

As Ubben put it, “I don’t think he gets fired… but it’s very expensive.” In a desperate bid to save his tenure, Belichick has overhauled his staff and roster. Belichick hired Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator to fix the stagnant scoring.

After losing 31 players to the transfer portal, Belichick brought in 20 new transfers. He is currently overseeing a heated QB1 battle between Wisconsin transfer Billy Edwards Jr. and true freshman Travis Burgess. Interestingly, the last Tar Heels QB1, Gio Lopez, has no good things to say about the program.

The chances of a mid-season firing in 2026 are low due to the buyout, but the seat is white-hot. If Belichick loses the season opener against TCU in Dublin or gets outplayed by ACC opponents, the chants of change will definitely be raised in Chapel Hill.
