What Happened to Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb?

After a hot start to the Thursday Night matchup against the Lions in Week 14, Lamb went down early in the third quarter while trying to haul in an end zone target from quarterback Dak Prescott. He was unable to catch the pass, and when he hit the ground, his head bounced off the turf hard in the end zone.

Lamb stayed on the ground for a moment, appearing to have an injury to his left arm. Trainers helped him up and to the blue medical tent for a brief evaluation before he was sent back to the locker room. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, he was ruled out due to the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Lamb was on pace for what might have been his highest receiving total of the season. He hauled in six of eight targets for 121 yards. This offense needs him. But for fantasy purposes, we know what happens when he’s not on the field. Pickens can be an alpha. If Lamb doesn’t return, Pickens will serve as the WR1 and should see heavy targeting.

We also saw increased targeting for Jake Ferguson during the first few weeks of the season, particularly when Lamb was out with his high ankle sprain. Pickens would be an elite WR1, and Ferguson would be a mid TE1, at worst, for as long as Lamb is out.

Lamb has been a massive part of the Dallas Cowboys’ offense, giving Prescott another option alongside the resurgent Pickens. Heading into tonight’s game, Lamb ranked 15th overall in PFSN’s proprietary WR Impact metric.

Despite their struggles on defense, the Cowboys’ offense, with help from Lamb, has been one of the best in the league. They currently rank third on the season in our Offense Impact Metric, with an 87.2 score. They are second in yards per play and top-5 in points per drive.

While the Cowboys were able to punch the ball into the end zone with running back Javonte Williams, Prescott will need Pickens, Ferguson, and others to step up in Lamb’s absence.
