The Dallas Cowboys are one of 30 teams disappointed that they’re watching the Super Bowl from home this year. Dallas missed the NFL Playoffs entirely, finishing the regular season with a record of 7-9-1.
It’s clear their stars aren’t satisfied with how the season ended, as one of their key players spoke on what needs to change for the Cowboys to reach the big game next year.
CeeDee Lamb Speaks on What Needs To Change for the Cowboys
On Saturday, Lamb was asked what needs to happen for the Cowboys to be competing in the Super Bowl next year.
“Well, for starters, we gotta fix both sides of the ball,” Lamb told PFSN and other outlets at a USAA Salute to Service event.
#ad Honored to send a legend & Purple Heart veteran @USAirForce TSgt. Chris F. to #SBLX with the help of @USAA and @AFA_Air_Space. Grateful to give back to a deserving member of Cowboys Nation who’s given us so much. Catch you in the Bay Area! 💯 #SaluteToService pic.twitter.com/VhoI825kqy

“We gotta fix the defense. We gotta fix ourselves on offense and just obviously continue to be consistent, do everything we’re supposed to do, and ideally plan to do every week. And I really had too much of a drop off, and we gotta be who we are. I feel like we’re a very dominant team, both sides of the ball. We gotta put it together.”
It’s interesting that Lamb begins his statement discussing the defensive issues, given the front office traded away superstar EDGE Micah Parsons in late August of 2025. The Cowboys’ defense ranked dead last in PFSN’s metrics with an impact score of 62.1.
The All-Pro wideout did go on to put some of the blame on himself, which is fair given his slight drop off in production. He finished the 2025 season with 75 receptions for 1,077 yards and 3 touchdowns.
It’s worth noting that part of the reason for his statistical decline is because Dallas brought in Pro Bowl WR George Pickens, who shined in his first year with the Cowboys.
Lamb and Pickens were one of the top receiving duos in the NFL, as, according to PFSN’s metrics, the former is No. 14 in the league at his position, while the latter comes in at No. 3.
The Cowboys put together a handful of impressive performances throughout the 2025 season, but just as Lamb mentioned, doing it on a consistent basis will be key to finding success next season.
