With the final Week 3 of the NFL preseason upon us, the Arizona Cardinals are entering the 2025 season with hopes to break their three-year playoff drought. After going 8-9 in 2024, the team is hoping to build on that mark to become legitimate division and wild-card contenders.
At the center of this upward momentum is quarterback Kyler Murray, who signed a five-year, $230 million contract extension in 2022 following an impressive first three NFL seasons.
Who Are the Arizona Cardinals’ Quarterbacks?
Kyler Murray
Murray is firmly entrenched as the Arizona Cardinals’ starting quarterback and franchise cornerstone, entering 2025 as the unquestioned leader of the offense. The 2019 No. 1 overall pick and that season’s Offensive Rookie of the Year has been the face of the organization since his arrival, blending dynamic dual-threat ability with big-play potential.
When healthy, Murray is among the league’s most electrifying quarterbacks, capable of changing games with both his arm and his legs.

For the Cardinals, everything starts with the Texas native under center, and their playoff hopes in 2025 hinge on his continued growth and ability to elevate the playmakers around him. However, it’s worth mentioning he does face his fair share of criticism, and there are those fans who doubt his ability at being the man for the job.
Jacoby Brissett
QB2 Jacoby Brissett was signed by the Cardinals in March of 2025 as the veteran backup to Murray. Brissett brings considerable NFL pedigree, having started 53 of 87 games across several teams (Patriots, Colts, Dolphins, Browns, Commanders).
He’s currently regarded as the clear frontrunner for the No. 2 spot following an efficient showing over his first two preseason games, completing 11 of 16 passes for 138 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions.
Clayton Tune
Selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of the University of Houston, Clayton Tune is seen as the developmental/third quarterback option. He has seen action in 13 regular-season games across 2023 and 2024 with the Cardinals.
This preseason, he’s completed 18 of 29 passes for 103 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.
Preview for Cardinals vs. Raiders Preseason Week 3 Game
As previously written on PFSN, the preseason closes Saturday night at State Farm Stadium, where the Las Vegas Raiders meet the Arizona Cardinals.
For Las Vegas, as is the case with most teams in the league for the final game of the preseason, this finale is about deciding the back end of the roster. Head coach Pete Carroll and his staff have spotlighted depth battles at wide receiver, where younger players are pushing for the final two spots, and along the offensive line, where versatility could prove decisive.
Arizona’s focus is similar but starts even further down the roster. With Murray and other top names resting, backup quarterbacks and skill players will carry the load. For rookies and special-teams hopefuls, the reps in Glendale could decide whether they stick on the 53-man roster or end up on the practice squad.
