On Sunday, one of the top games of the week actually came from some of the worst teams in the NFL. When the Tennessee Titans entered Cleveland to play the Browns, there was not much hype for this game, even with two starting rookie QBs competing against each other.
Titans QB Cam Ward was selected with the #1 pick in the draft, and Shedeur Sanders was selected at the 144th pick by the Browns, but these two will never stop being compared. At the beginning of the 2025 draft process, Ward and Sanders were the #1 and #2 QBs in the draft, and the two prospects had many competitive moments during the offseason.
This competitiveness never ended between the two, and in this matchup, Ward won, but Sanders had the better performance.
The QBs Meet After the Game for a Rookie Jersey Swap
Looking at the final stat lines, Ward was 14-28, 117 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Not a great performance, but not horrible. On Cleveland’s side, Sanders was 23-42, 364 yards, three touchdowns, one rushing touchdown, and one interception. Clearly, Sanders had the better performance, but Ward got the last laugh with the win.
After the game, the two rookie QBs met to have a jersey swap, and when Ward found out Sanders’ statline, he made a very funny comment on what he would do with the jersey, “Oh, 4 touchdowns and 350? Gonna put that s**t on eBay after the game.”
🔥 Shedeur & Cam. Post Game. Finally Swap Jerseys 😂
Cam : “3TD’s 350? Oh, 4 TDs”
Shedeur : “I gotta make some money for real”

Obviously, this was a joke by Ward, but it just shows how impressive Sanders’ performance really was. Yes, it was not perfect, and the Browns could not get the win, but even in Ward’s competitive spirit, he had to appreciate what Sanders did on the field.
After the selling comment was made, the video kept playing, and Sanders made a joking but serious comment back that sparked interesting conversations for the Browns. In response to Ward saying something (hard to tell in the video) about the offseason, Sanders responded with, “I gotta make it through the season first, we got two different problems over here, buddy.”

Sanders was laughing the whole time when this comment was said, but this is something at the back of the rookie’s mind every week.
With how the Browns have struggled this offseason, as seen from their 32nd overall rank in offense per PFSN’s Offensive Impact Metric, getting a top pick is the likely outcome, and there could be some QB options in the first round.
This may be the direction Cleveland goes in, but if Sanders can have more performances as he did against the Titans, the Browns may be able to focus on fixing other positions on the roster before making a change at QB.
